Horsetrader;the rise and fall of robert sangster and the sport of kings (1994)

I enjoyed it.

Read it many years ago, and remember it being a good read. There were another couple of good books that came out at about the same time, by Raymond Smith: (in particular) 'High Rollers of the Turf' and also 'The Master of Ballydoyle'. I was looking recently on ebay and some of the originals are a bit pricey nowadays, so has it been reissued.

thanks both.

ill look into those 2 as well andriy

It's an absolute brilliant book. Read it 100 times over it's that good. I have the hardback and if you go online its a worth about £300-£400  if not mistaken.

How did he fall?

I assumed it was rise and rise.

Proud to say i rode one of his horses in a gallop when he came to Manton one morning....It worked terrible.

Can you remember it's name?

I am trying to remember TMB it was back in the early 90s he did Win but was no superstar.

I was working for Gosden at the time.

Noooo sold mine for buttons a few years ago ...

Manton must have been some place to ride work Acey.

Some of the best gallops in the Country TMB i thought Meehan would have done a lot better than he has.

Would have been interesting to see what M Dickinson could have achieved if given time.

Shocking the way he was treated....From the outside anyway.
