Ladycarla, thanks for the advice I'm only messing around, trying to point out to Gaze the contradictions in all his different threads... Back drifters, lay drifters, steamers never win or lose apparently etc etc I assume it all goes over his head, or, more likely, that it's just a game he's playing with us? More fool me for even posting on his threads I suppose... But it passes the time between races

When you're a serious layer, you will be frustrated with how complicated it is. Big steamers are unlayable because the market knows, big drifters are unlayable because the price is too big, LTO winners are unlayable because they're in good form, LTO finished last are also unlayable because the price is too big again or the yard is setting up a plot. Top rated horses are unlayable because they're the best horses, bottom rated horses are unlayable because they carry the least weight. I could give you a horse that has a 10% chance to win at 5/1 but when he steams to 3/1 his chances will be 35% because steamers never lose.

Precis. Steamers win except when they lose Drifters lose except when they win. Only back winning steamers and drifters Only lay losing steamers and drifters.
