You are right, it only seems have changed tonight. I am also having problems with scroll down disappearing.

It's shame to lose the history as I have occasionally used it to query with a bookmaker.

Shame it's gone, very little for free these days. I am guessing the problem is the number of 'faces' they are now paying even though I am guessing the vast majority could very easily do without them.

Just put the grid on one platform for free, and all the tipsters etc. elsewhere, and see how many subscribers they get.

@differentdrum

"Shame it's gone, very little for free these days"

I thought most of us on here (and the racing fraternity in general) were boomers/Gen X and used to paying for stuff? Buying formbooks and the the like? It's Gen Z and Millenials who expect everything to be free?  Add the people on here gleefully sharing their ad-blocking strategies when that's a revenue stream for these kind of sites.

Seems odd to expect all this data to be provided freely for our benefit?

Well quite longbridge, however, if it allows a couple of free looks at history before the pay message, you can just delete site cookies and you're straight back in.

Not sure what all this data is you are referring to, but I just use it for the price grid/history.

It's been around for ages (and survived) so why suddenly start charging people to view it? I presume bookmakers already pay to be included?

Because I am querying one thing it doesn't follow that I expect 'everything to be free'. As acknowledged by the quote you lifted.

Some things in life are truly free. Jockeypedia, for example. Not only is it free but you don’t even have to log in. Plus it’s 100% ad-free. Go to Jockeypedia.co.uk.

Thought the main reason many places like oddschecker were free was because they used advertising money instead of subscription - fee payment will quickly kill off a place like that IMO, as most will simply not bother.
Report stu March 3, 2024 12:15 PM GMT
Or they will just be like RP - some free, and some subscription, with most just getting the free part....
Report longbridge March 3, 2024 12:45 PM GMT
Maybe the bookies worked out that using their advertising spend to target punters who were known to be price-sensitive wasn't the best use of their money?
Report stu March 3, 2024 1:18 PM GMT
Still no end of their ads all over that site though...
Report hulk23 March 3, 2024 1:26 PM GMT
be interesting to see how it works out for them, can't see people paying for that personally.

they must've done their homework and think otherwise.
