I said a while back on a thread, after reading an article on Australian racing and plans afoot there to limit stakes, that the attack on gambling is a globalist policy.

So why is sportsbetting being legalised in the USA?

btw it will be interesting to see whether flutter/betfair/paddy etc decide to leave Dublin if this legislation is passed or will the low tax rate keep them there.

If this ludicrous nanny state nonsense is introduced, I hope we are provided with suicide statistics for Ireland and Northern Ireland before and after it's implementation, and an end to this gambling related suicide BS.

When the off course betting tax in Ireland was high nobody had any problem betting tax free, gamblers are resourceful and will find ways round this.

Racing in Britain and Ireland is far too prestige steeped in history fuelled with multi millionaires and Royalty to let any two bit commission get in the way….

dave,i was listening to the radio when the gambling news broke.A GUY WHO REPS THE GOVERNMENT WAS ON .He said that the changes do not effect horse racing,or any other sports,he talked about changes in bingo, slot machines, and lotto perhaps .He said it was going to protect children by stopping gambling ads on tv before 9pm.He said football bets will not be effected and teams can still advertise  gambling on their shirts. He talked about changes in gambling when they review the legislation in 2029.he said it will not effect horse racing in Ireland in any shape or form.
thats what i heard on the main irish news.
i can not tell you where the irish mirror got their story but it is the complete opposite to what i heard, and complete opposite to what i am reading on this thread.
i am confused so i will wait and see what happens before i start complaining.BRASS.Wink
