Report BoosterRooster February 28, 2024 6:44 PM GMT
Dunno about alternatives, easyodds used to be ok, though looks to have changed.

R.post has price tables, but only for about 8 of the biggest firms.

it's an advertisement gaze.

you don't pay to see a fkng advertisement.

the people advertising pay to get their prices shown.

if they're lucky you'll see them, open an account, have 3 bets, and get your backside banned.

What are the chances of the ATR website following suit?
Report hulk23 February 28, 2024 8:13 PM GMT
if Andy Holding's tips were worth paying for Andy Holding would be sitting on Andy Holding's own Caribbean Island, flying round the world in Andy Holding's private jet and Andy Holding would have a collection of vintage Andy Holding Ferrari's in Andy Holding's garage.

It takes a lot of time and creativity to set something like that up and update it every minute everyday. The only way they make money just now is if viewers click on the Bookie banners currently on their site offering free bets and open an account via their link.

...... Personally, I don`t use it. BF odds on any horse to win are much higher without checking.

£80k 16 years ago was a lot of money for most people and lots of similar investments will have gone south . I tend to remember more  shares that I've sold that have gone up than the ones that are worth a lot less now. You do what you think is right at the time.

Anyone using service websites every day with their adblockers switched on might want to think about whether they might look for ways to make their enterprise worthwhile. And I include myself in that.

You should NEVER turn your ad blocker off. Actually Ublock Origin can stop malware and phishing attacks. Attackers take over adverts on websites (even trustworthy ones) and implement their own malicious code. Also on mobile phones ad blockers can save some battery life , and video ads can eat your bandwidth.

I also enjoy CLEAN, orderly pages with an ad blocker. Not only that ad blockers protect you from ads that collect chunks of data from cookies, ads can use tracking tools to keep an eye on you at all times. Your interests, worries, secrets, every action you take online — is logged and exposed for everybody willing to pay for it. Your data can be leaked, making you an easy target for hackers and governments. Ad blockers disarm advertisers, keeping your data private and everybody else clueless.

Report Trident March 3, 2024 8:44 AM GMT
Try going on the Daily Mail website (not that I read that rubbish) without uBlock Origin. It's unusable and you cannot read a thing. Last time I checked 150 trackers on 1 page + 22 ads that move!

Ad blockers are a modern tragedy of the commons. Everybody should use one, but that stops websites earning money from click-throughs, so the sites either close or start charging.
Report Knight Commander March 3, 2024 9:32 AM GMT

Barstewards mob may have hit the nail squarely on the swede. Pointed out that Oddschecker were coining it with mug punters clicking through the bookies' links and therein taking a cut.

They postulate that the endless stream of mugs has dried up and now they are forced to charge punters £10 to view price changes, Andy Holding's 'bad each way' tips etc.
Report BlazingWalker March 3, 2024 10:02 PM GMT
Surely by reducing the amount of people that can see the grids will in turn upset the bookmakers who pay to be there , good luck with that oddschecker can’t see many takers.
Report dave1357 March 3, 2024 10:43 PM GMT
You can still see unlimited price grids afaik. It is just the price history of an individual selection that is restricted.
Report Trident March 4, 2024 7:55 AM GMT
£9.99 a month in this economic climate is just going to drive away customers. Maybe that's what they want?!Mischief
Report Trident March 4, 2024 7:56 AM GMT
It is just the price history of an individual selection that is restricted. hmm, pehaps that benefits bookmakers over the long run? There is always a reason...
Report Ramruma March 4, 2024 8:29 AM GMT
Oddschecker is no longer owned by bookmakers. It was sold a couple of years ago to an American private equity (PE) outfit, who will be looking to get their £150 million back, especially if the cost of any loans they took out has gone up with rising interest rates.

People object to paying £10 a month which is only 30p a day. I reckon they might do better charging 30p for the first paywalled transaction of each day but maybe it is impractical to put such tiny amounts onto a credit card.

Tbh I only look at one page, once a day, which is free for the time being.
Report hulk23 March 4, 2024 9:42 AM GMT
only 30p a day

justify anything by doing this.

get 10,000 people paying you "only 30p a day" (nobody's going to miss that) and you're clearing 100k a year.
Report longbridge March 4, 2024 10:57 AM GMT
100k a year would barely make a dent in the costs of keeping oddschecker up and running, so that doesn't seem an excessive aim?
Report revs March 4, 2024 12:29 PM GMT
maybe the exchanges should start charging?  Bookmakers must have saved a fortune by using them rather than employing staff to compile odds Grin
