My understanding - though it was a fair while ago - it was a UKGC requirement to allow people to chhose that when they asked for 2.0 they were not matched at 1000 as their horse had already fallen; it sort-of works on the SB but it makes the Exch unusable (cashout pretty much never works with it on, for instance).

and "match me" doesn't work with BPE turned off either (unsurprisingly).
Frankly, it's a completely useless feature only there to keep the GC happy and I cannot envisage any scenario in which any Exchange punter would want it switched off.
What *might* be useful is the ability to set a range - I am happy to be matched at a better price, but no more than (eg) 10% better - that way you can benefit from picking up pennies at a slightly better prices, or the market flickering a point or two better on the odds ladder, but you're saved from betting when a material event (goal, horse falling, tennis point, etc) has occurred between your decision to place the bet and the bet hitting the market.

Actually it works pretty well - does what you might do in a hurry yourself - stick your bet in two ticks below the prevailing best back offer and let best price execution do the rest.
