fwiw this is a crock of shyte. I was a stock manager for a large central London supermarket in a past life. Old bill came out whenever we asked for them. And we had panic buttons for the threatening incidents, they would be there in 2 mins....

The reason why it has gone down this route is that the police 'service' has been turned into a social working service, rather than enforcing the law in a way that would be a deterrent. They see themselves as heavily political and predominately administrative. Council workers with a taser.

there was a story running on the news just now of one man literally stabbing another while the victim was on the ground in broad daylight. Unbeknown to the perp there were multiple off duty cops close by. The incident was on cctv so indisputable. The stabber got 12 months ffs. Probably did the six months on remand and back out already.
