Give over with "only he knows what will have a good chance". Look at the DRF. Eight Grade 1s in the bag but not always with the right horse. The man's a genius but he hasn't got a crystal ball. Most of them have a chance.
But in any case, to answer your question, we have four moles in the yard who can at least provide insight. Ruby on pretty much every panel that hasn't managed to sign up Jonny Dineen, Patrick's columns in the newspapers, the owners, and the market.
I'd not take everything Willie says literally without looking at the context, and especially what he has been asked. Agreeing with the questioner that Ballyburn is a fast 2-miler is not a commitment to run in the Supreme, for instance. The reality these days is all the big yards and all the big owners are playing poker with each other as to who runs where, right up to declarations time. Willie can't run a Gigginstown horse in a race without at least thinking about what his other owners have, but also what Gigginstown have with Gordon, for instance.
And then if you are going to do an acca, say a five-fold, do four-folds as well in case one flops.

Willie has the depth of quality never been seen before flat or jumps and vast majority of times even he has only a marginal preference than we do as punters as to which of his runners will perform best on the day , whilst PT will be the envy of all with his choice of rides it's one hell of a difficult choice at times.

Seriously, if you back the horses in the races they shouldn't be running in, that's probably the perfect strategy.
The perception is that every year on the eve of Cheltenham he turns into the training eqivalent of Bob Cooper.

Certainly no surprise that Tiger as they all go there with high expectations and backed accordingly.
He's certainly not the trainer to back blindly as the required strike rate for profit would need to be astronomical.

How times have changed, many long years ago we could back ruby on the outsider of 3 of mullings at 25/1 sp , and unbelievable prices we got we had a golden few years about 15 years cleaning up until it’s now got to a stage where you’d be lucky to make any profit backing like we used to do, people cottoned on all after the golden years and slim pickings now, so it’s a change tack and there is ways to make it with Willy but not as we used to
