Labour have suspended their candidate (just now) and it's too late to replace him therefore it looks as though they won't be represented which means Galloway will win. Still 4/6 on here!

Betfair expressly reserves the right to suspend and/or void any and all bets on this market at any time in the event that Betfair is not satisfied (in its absolute discretion) with the certainty of the outcome.

The outcome will be certain unless there's vote rigging! The Labour bloke can't be replaced and will still show on the ballot as Labour as it can't be changed now so in effect a vote for him is for an independent and this is on the assumption that he doesn't withdraw.

It's very unlikely Mr Ali will withdraw otherwise he'd have done so before he was suspended. Another Labour lost because of a lack of leadership and definitiveness.

Not sure about this one

I've read that the words Labour Party are still going to appear next to his name on the ballot paper. It's only if he wins that the whip will be withdrawn and he would have to sit as an independent.

So, with a 10k majority at the moment, won't there be enough Labour voters who will just put a cross next to the "Labour" candidate? And the rules on this one are paying out on which party will win the by election

You've summed it up well Reg, that's my understanding as well. Ballot can't be changed so if Labour candidate wins it counts as a Labour victory even though the whip will be suspended and he'll sit as an Independent. Issue is will Labour supporters vote for him in these circumstances, or stop at home.  I'd say Galloway deserves to be fav and should win. Labour will just figure they'll get if back in the GE in 8 months time.

His fellow countrymen and women will probably vote for him. The locals will most unlikely, I'd think. Nevertheless, he'd probably be gone come the General Election in late 2024 or early 2025.

A muslim who doesn't trust the Israeli government. Who would have guessed such a thing, you'd think someone in the Labour selection team would have had a word with him to be careful. What a bunch of plonkers politicians (of all colours) are!!

The problem lies with individual constituencies with regard to candidate selection and they don't always follow party policies.

Mr Ali would still be in a job if he had stuck to local politics, surely Rochdale has enough problems without trying to change the world.

corbyn is just an idiot. he is a big supporter of iran. amazing when you think what a brutal genocidal theocracy it is

but he is governed by his loathing of israel and the u.s. and west in general. sadly, this offensive dishonest garbage is not unusual among labour supporters

Jewish people USED to vote labour & several were communists. When labour get elected it will morph into the Islamic Party of the UK. 19 Muslim MPs at the moment & many big city Mayors. Starmer will not be able to control them. The antisemitic undercurrent along the lines of Ali will emerge further. The likes of this excrement can apologise but it doesn't mean they've changed their views. Time for the Jews to consider their future in the UK. It's not going to get better. 4 million Muslims in the UK against 260 thousand Jews, so who do you think the candidates want to appeal to. Guess what the religion is of EVERY SINGLE CRIMINAL landing on the south coast illegally.

slight overstatement

but thers little doubt many progressives in the party are massivley in denial about the religion of peace that supplies us with all the refugees we need. its so spectacularly intolerant and mono-cultural and the antithesis of what a labour voter and mp should support

why are almost all of them male? could it be the that women in these countries have no freedom and are in thrall to their families? nowhere in the world, from sweden to aus has escaped murderous attacks on innocents by islamo-loons. and africa now is alight with them, but you dont hear of it because it cant be blamed on the perfidious west that they all want to get to

I find it astounding a foreign care worker can bring in their partner as a dependent, and eventually their children too. I understand the importance and necessity of allowing foreign care workers into the country. What i find astounding is the economic costs of this eg the partner and children eg housing, healthcare, school, etc. Also, this foreign care workers have tended to come mainly from India.

I think this policy has been exploited, and used as a backdoor into the UK by the unscrupulous agencies and care home providers and owners. These entities also withhold the passports of the care workers under contract to them usually at least two years. During this period the care worker will be working for less money than the average care worker not on contract but freelance.

A modern day slavery.

i was pulling your leg sparrer but as you are here can you explain how it is that so many in the labour party are in denial about the religion of pieces that it leads them to defend the indefensible and grows a seething hatred of israel among some(not all, or a majority) but plenty

i dont think its anti-semitic, its anti-west more than anything, from what ive heard from socialists i encounter
