Seems to be rather a lot in recent seasons, but as he has so many good horses nobody seems to take much notice.

Grangeclare West
Klassical Dream
Allaho

Energumene
The Nice Guy
Ferny Hollow
Monkfish

All chasers.

Probably others I haven't remembered.

Losing these sort of horses for a length of time would severely impact on most stables.

Probably just the numbers he has Different. Going to end up with more injured.

Think geoff's correct , he has so many high profile horses from the high grade races you recognize them all and they all make headlines , plenty of injuries from lower grade stuff go unnoticed.

Is grangeclare out for the season ?
Report Hayden • February 8, 2024 3:59 PM GMT
Leading novice chaser Grangeclare West has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Owned by Cheveley Park Stud and trained by Willie Mullins, the eight-year-old won both starts over fences this campaign including the Grade One Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown in December.

He was due to return to that track on Sunday for the Ladbroke Novice Chase, won by stablemate Fact To File, but was ruled out on the morning of the race.

The trainer told sportinglife.com: “Unfortunately Grangeclare West was found cast in his box on Sunday and has now been ruled out for the rest of the season.”

Every trainer has horses out through illness or injury but only the high profile ones in anti post markets get a mention in the racing media. Venetia has run several this season that have had 2 years off!

Thanks Hayden

They did announce he was cast in his box something I’ve not heard for a long time, wasn’t aware he was out for the season what a shame.

How many individual Grade 1 winners would he have had in a couple of years, maybe 25-30? I would say that number of high profile injuries is quite a high percentage.

I have the Nicholls 2019/20 season open day book here and it is hard to read the names of good young horses that have fallen by the wayside. Hermes Allen is the most recent loss.
