Went to buy a slab of Davidstow which when I got to the shelf was entombed inside a huge plastic casing. The cheese was sizeable but the case it was in was the size the entire basket not allowing me to pit anything else in.
I asked the cashier why this huge case was used to hold cheese and apparently shoplifters go in and steal cheese clearing the shelves but when inside this massive casing it’s only possible for them to pinch one or two at a time.
For the record this block of cheese was £8 which seems hugely expensive to me.
What has this world come to and why is cheese now such a valuable commodity?

People steal the cheese
The price goes up to compensate for the loss
Cheese becomes more attractive to steal...

Why do people when talking about cheese always mention "edam".. I suppose its because they don't like cheese and pick on the very worst example.

Edam has only been mentioned in a joke capacity, and as a play on words.

I'm told when the less well off can't afford cheese, to savour the aroma, they take their shoes & socks off. As  for me, if I could take Brie intravenously, I would!

I gave up on the title a while ago. Can’t see us doing it with 4 losses in the bag already.

We pretty much need to go the rest of the season unbeaten now and I just don’t see us doing that.

Champions League though…Porto next so we should be in the quarters and anything is possible…

I just don’t get this season…the side just needed reinforcing with a couple of heavyweight signings but Arteta decided to rip it all up and start again. The way they treated Ramsdale kind of spoilt the magic for me.

By the way…I think if Nysos stays fit then he wins the Duurby in a canter….a very bold statement so early in the year :)

He just oozes too much class.

Tenerife opened my eyes in the supermarkets half price foods to here apart from meat, as for drinks like gin/ wine/ beer was half price price, and eating drinking out half the price, we are getting shafted big style and as I’ve said for a long time inflation is not coming down even though they fiddle the figures to seem and tell us it is, interest rates need doubling to bring inflation down or we just prolong for longer

Agree know all, and they will be importing nearly everything in Tenerife, yet still cheaper than stuff grown/produced here

BTW, one of my favourite cheeses is from the Middle East...
Cheeses of Nazareth...

Mate…we were absolutely cruising to the title last season then bang…2-2, 2-2, 3-3 and then loses to you, Brighton and Fkin Forest.

It’s asking a lot for them to get over the line this time.

But champions league might be a little easier. Bayern can’t defend for sh*t and Jude Bellingham has been carrying Real this season.

We will have Partey back soon so we could just grind teams into submission with a midfield 3 of Rice, Jorginho and Partey.

You’re going to have play near perfect to break that down.
