I'm ashamed to say that I've never been to Arran
. Going back to the Usher/Vaux races- Ushers was one of the worst beers sold in Scotland in the sixties but Vaux could be described as vile. We used to drink in a pub in Lanark called The Black Bull which was Vaux, may have been brewer owned and was good for under age entry. Lots of stable lads lodged there and us 16 year olds were giants by comparison. JP Yeomans and Postons lads used the rooms upstairs.
