Let's hope it's just a fall, horse has a strange action on front right, looks like front left went.

But what happens for betting purposes? Hard to tell where the jockey comes off, if it's before or after line. Don't really fancy watching it back too many more times either.

there was a a similar one a yr or 2 back, i think it was a novice hurdle and it was miles clear and sadly broke down

Wicked Thoughts crossed the line in front whatever the decision. Jockey of Getagin didn't appear to touch the ground until after the winning line.

I remember twenty years ago or so the same thing happened at southwell that said horse hung on but paid the ultimate price  so hopefully this ones hung on again

Was going easy, jock stole a wee glance, ground is generally quite good on that rail but there has been a few oddish falls at mussel this year in the home straight.

Yeah you're right, just paused it on sky plus. Jockey on ground before winning line and other horse in front on line.

Says last traded price was 100 on the winner.

Getagin posted second. I guess because the jock didn't touch the ground until after the line? Not sure of the rules there.

Given it as 2nd on sporting life.

Jockey must have still been in contact then when the horse crossed the line.

Its a horrible thing to do, but if you pause it on the sky plus, the jockey is clearly separated from the horse before the line, and the horse falling catapults him over it.

Maybe he still has hold of the reins or something? Im not sure of the exact rules either.

Cobden (and PN) looked distraught. Unbelievable after what happened yesterday to get a race in that fashion the next day.

Don't know the rules, but the jockey and horse have definitely parted company 2yds before the line.

What is spooky is that the whole scenario played out exactly like Getagin's first win over the exact same course and distance.
Him leading on the rails in a gutsy finish, with two fancied horses going flat out, to go past him on the outside, less than a length behind.

Very sad. Poor horse and heart breaking for connections, I really feel for them.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race when GETAGIN (IRE) fell approaching the line. Having viewed the recordings; the official photo and interviewed the Judge and Ryan Mania, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider of GETAGIN (IRE) had not made contact with the ground until after the line and therefore were satisfied that GETAGIN (IRE) should be placed second.

That was terrible to watch. Very sad.

I was at Musselburgh today and the sad, sombre feeling after this incident will live long in the memory for the wrong reasons.

The OP should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for the tone of that heading I had a random stranger standing crying next to me after what happened and the horses groom walking off the course with a bridle in his hand getting words of support from racegoers.

Anything for a cheap laugh on here I suppose.

Yes, the jockey had not hit the ground, but he was not connected to the horse at the finish line and was in mid air.
