Cider maybe 100% correct who knows we're all guessing until connections confirm one way or the other , even then the debate will continue no doubt without a satisfying outcome for everyone.

unless you think riders can sit up if they feel the horse is not going well, and not visibly ask for a lot of effort, allowing their stablemate to coast home. if that is permitted without connections being officially asked about what went on, that really is a new normal.

the stewards did ask for the horse to be vetted and it was deemed post race normal

They will no doubt move on with no questions asked as it is the top untouchable connections and a grade 1. If that was a match in a run of the mill handicap and the one on the fav effectively sat up once passed and allowed the stablemate to coast home, they would be hauled in. I think people are entitled to expect more effort than that, or pull it up if unable to compete. Can't have the bread buttered both sides. That covers all aspects of the issue in a nutshell, if it ain't right why not PU, failing to do that we must deduce that the jockey is OK with the horse, so why no effort? Yet we are going to be asked to believe that there is this vague grey area somewhere in between. |

That's one thing we were in general agreement earlier duffy , in that the satisfactory explanation is for either the poor run or why ask the horse to jump the last.

...why ask the horse to jump the last. €30,000 2nd place prize money presumably? |

Couldn't begin to believe it's for a paltry £30k for that owner.
In any case too professional an outfit to jump a class horse for £30k so imagining there's a different explanation. |
