...avoiding Dublin Racing Festival.

I'm not a fan of a trainer dominating the entire preceding eg Mr Mullins. But, the shameful thing is the two top British National Hunt trainers eg Hendo and Pumpkin are not even represented. What the f**k is going on? This meeting is almost 6 weeks to Cheltenham!

I'd be asking the two trainers above WHY? if I've horses with either. Pathetic, and not good for the sport!

No ammunition, and the ornament is for Cheltenham
Report impossible123 • February 3, 2024 10:27 AM GMT
Even Constitution Hill and Shishkin? Hendo is all talk, but behaves like a chicken. He does not deserve the patronage from big owners.
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 10:33 AM GMT
So it is ok for other Irish trainers to swerve the Mullins battalions without any slur impossible? Crazy
Report stewarts rise • February 3, 2024 10:34 AM GMT
According to Luke, if they take their best horses, the prize money doesn't count towards the English trainers championship, so why take on the cream of the Irish before Cheltenham, possibly have a really hard race before their intended targets.
Report impossible123 • February 3, 2024 10:41 AM GMT
Hard race? A better thought out and enterprising strategy in place that's all is needed. Mr Mullins' runs his charges, but Hendo and Pumpkin avoid DRF like the plague.

Shishkin missed his intended races, and so did Constitution Hill. Pathetic Hendo!

You can't win a Cheltenham Festival race in February but you can certainly loose one.
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 10:48 AM GMT
How many winners have you trained impossible?
Report sparrow • February 3, 2024 10:48 AM GMT
Jump racing here is all about Cheltenham these days and thats it.
Report impossible123 • February 3, 2024 10:49 AM GMT
Shishkin and Constitution Hill both missed two of their intended races, and the timing of the DRF this year is almost ideal for Cheltenham next month. Pathetic!
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 10:55 AM GMT
And you know it is the trainers decision and not the owners impossible? Half the horses in training would be out through injury and jockeys would be banned half the time if the industry listened to the ignorance of some on here!!
Report Cider • February 3, 2024 10:55 AM GMT
How do you 'avoid' racing in another country ? Ignore the opportunity perhaps. But not avoid.

Irish jumps racing is centred around a meeting in another jurisdiction. Ours is not.

How many winners have you trained impossible?

Zzzz ffs
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 11:00 AM GMT
You are little different to impossible Quixall, days spent on here doing your brains !!
Report impossible123 • February 3, 2024 11:00 AM GMT
If a trainer repeatedly chooses not to enter their best charges at a specific meeting over a period of time then it can be construed as avoidance eg if AOB ignores Epsom or French Derby.

Hendo has form!
Report Cider • February 3, 2024 11:07 AM GMT
Nonsense.

I should imagine winning in Ireland is low down the priority list for most connections operating in the UK. UK connections who want to win in Ireland have horses based in Ireland.
Report Cider • February 3, 2024 11:10 AM GMT
The double green is probably the most obvious example, having multiple horses in both regions. Do many of their UK based horses run in Ireland? I can't think of many examples.
Report impossible123 • February 3, 2024 12:19 PM GMT
"The double green...". Whose loss is that? UK trainers!
Report brandyontherocks • February 3, 2024 12:21 PM GMT
How is O'brien avoiding the Derby an example??

Everything Coolmore do is based around the Derby. Pathetic example.
Report strontium • February 3, 2024 1:36 PM GMT
Pumpkin's main goal nowadays seems to be winning the trainer's championship, and going to the DRF wouldn't help with that. Henderson has less of an excuse. I see Sophie Leech has the favourite in one of yhe handicaps today.
Report elise • February 3, 2024 1:49 PM GMT
was that lydia there doing an impression of a giant blueberry?
Report sageform • February 3, 2024 1:50 PM GMT
All of the top three trainers in the GB table are after the trainers championship as of course are Mullins and Elliott in Ireland. So no English runners in Ireland and no Irish ones at Sandown.
Report acey deucy • February 3, 2024 1:56 PM GMT
I mean how exciting would it have been if Constitution Hill had taken the trip over.
Report sageform • February 3, 2024 2:00 PM GMT
Not sure what would be exciting about a 4/11 shot beating a 3/1 shot with 25/1 bar 2. We will have to endure that boring spectacle in March if they both get there in one piece.
Report Frogger • February 3, 2024 2:08 PM GMT
They would get fairly battered bar one maybe 2 racehorses I would imagine is the reasoning
Report acey deucy • February 3, 2024 2:11 PM GMT
Stateman has improved again and on home soil who knows how it would have gawn.
Report ashleigh • February 3, 2024 4:17 PM GMT
well done Sophie Leech, show the rest how to do it.
Report Autocue • February 3, 2024 5:32 PM GMT
British racing is second division. The Dublin festival is quality. The British aren’t needed.
Report impossible123 • February 3, 2024 5:36 PM GMT
Indeed, and Ms Leech has been rewarded with a £60k 1st prize. One has to buy a lottery ticket to have a chance of winning. And, how do the odds compare to winning a horserace regardless of its competitiveness.

I think the motto of taking part has gone in this game sadly.

Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 5:43 PM GMT
Never mind that Mullins needs multiple entries to win but impossible expects UK trainers to win with perhaps one horse per race? Well done to Sophie tbf but slagging other trainers is way off beam if the "genius" Mullins cannot win with his perceived best?
Report differentdrum • February 3, 2024 5:53 PM GMT
An opportunity well found, it didn't look the strongest race for the money, and the horse has won with plenty in hand. Now 10/1 for the Grand Annual, but they are also thinking about the Plate.

Unfortunately, the spirit of competition died ages ago. Not helped by the sort of comments the hapless Harvey made this morning.
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 6:01 PM GMT
With the real Festival only weeks away and targets decided long ago can nobody understand the unwillingness to expose the best of British to possible injury or a hard race when ammo is limited?
Report sparrow • February 3, 2024 6:13 PM GMT
Yes targets decided long ago and thats it these days. Chose a couple of races and never deviate from that no matter what turns up.
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 6:18 PM GMT
Judging by todays results sparrow the Brits could do a lot better at Chelt than many thought and confidence of fresh horses might not be misplaced, remains to be seen tbh but no surprise if some declare their winner won because they swerved the self declared "Festival"?
Report sparrow • February 3, 2024 6:21 PM GMT
We shall see but judged on recent years I don't see much improvement on the totals.
Report N-east Correspondent • February 3, 2024 6:46 PM GMT
few bubbles burst today but thats to be expected, if the favs won every race there wouldnt be any bookies

Im still of the opinion some other british trained horses should have ventured over
I mean Pipe used to win the Imperial Cup then a handicap hurdle at the Festival like it joined in at the last
so the hard race scenario while legitimate reasoning isnt always the case some horses thrive on it

wd Sophie Leech and young James Reveley Wink
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 6:50 PM GMT
Big difference between handicap planning and Grade 1 though NEC?
Report N-east Correspondent • February 3, 2024 6:51 PM GMT
yeh get that but the principle remains some horses thrive on racing
not being wrapped up in cotton wool and then flopping on the big day
which is a likely scenario at Cheltenham
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 7:01 PM GMT
Could be the case NEC but interesting to see who makes a run in Dublin an excuse for being beaten and who declares missing it for winning?

Just mind boggling though the likes of impossible spouting sh!te on here as if the trainers should take note?

Hope you are well btw!!?
Report LoyalHoncho • February 3, 2024 7:05 PM GMT
Likely for which horse/horses N east?
Report N-east Correspondent • February 3, 2024 7:14 PM GMT
yeh doing good now which a year ago wasnt so much the case - hope things going ok with you and Mrs Cags

trainers will always find an excuse and ultimately its their decision I get that

but if its good enough for Mullins then why not some others?
he has more ammo but a lot will be running over this weekend so not much hiding place at Cheltenham
bit of a guessing game if some have had a hard race or brought others on to be almost peak for Fest.
Cheltenham>>>Aintree I get timewise but its nearly six weeks til Festival

as long as I dont hear there's not been a right prep race or prize money is too low from the usual suspects
- no names no pack-drill Wink
Report N-east Correspondent • February 3, 2024 7:22 PM GMT
well we havent seen final decs LoyalH so difficult to pinpoint
I was speaking in general as it's hard enough to win any race at Festival
so plenty will flop with or without a prep race
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 7:25 PM GMT
Great to know NEC my OH is seeing great tbh but I now have reading glasses and cannot put on any weight so FFS turn back a few years!! lol
Report LoyalHoncho • February 3, 2024 7:33 PM GMT
Yes.  If only we knew what the odds on flop was going to be.  There's usually at least one isn't there/
Report differentdrum • February 3, 2024 7:34 PM GMT
Impossible hardly spouting **** in wanting to see more competition.

The Dublin Festival has been going several years now. I can't think of examples of trainers blaming a run costing them at Cheltenham. Can you give us some examples?
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 7:41 PM GMT
DD you are the biggest whinger about odds on so you proved what a fickle fence you sit on, make your mind up?

If the Irish cannot present opposition why should the Brits IYO when not fitting in with their plans?

Correct me if wrong but YOU started tipping the short odd on favs in the "Premiership" just after slagging them which btw I agreed with.

Today 15 out of 25 odds on tips all stuffed!!!
Report differentdrum • February 3, 2024 7:47 PM GMT
So that's no examples then?
Report CagliariG • February 3, 2024 7:48 PM GMT
