...avoiding Dublin Racing Festival.

I'm not a fan of a trainer dominating the entire preceding eg Mr Mullins. But, the shameful thing is the two top British National Hunt trainers eg Hendo and Pumpkin are not even represented. What the f**k is going on? This meeting is almost 6 weeks to Cheltenham!

I'd be asking the two trainers above WHY? if I've horses with either. Pathetic, and not good for the sport!

No ammunition, and the ornament is for Cheltenham

Even Constitution Hill and Shishkin? Hendo is all talk, but behaves like a chicken. He does not deserve the patronage from big owners.

So it is ok for other Irish trainers to swerve the Mullins battalions without any slur impossible? Crazy

According to Luke, if they take their best horses, the prize money doesn't count towards the English trainers championship, so why take on the cream of the Irish before Cheltenham, possibly have a really hard race before their intended targets.

Hard race? A better thought out and enterprising strategy in place that's all is needed. Mr Mullins' runs his charges, but Hendo and Pumpkin avoid DRF like the plague.

Shishkin missed his intended races, and so did Constitution Hill. Pathetic Hendo!

You can't win a Cheltenham Festival race in February but you can certainly loose one.

How many winners have you trained impossible?

Jump racing here is all about Cheltenham these days and thats it.

Shishkin and Constitution Hill both missed two of their intended races, and the timing of the DRF this year is almost ideal for Cheltenham next month. Pathetic!

And you know it is the trainers decision and not the owners impossible? Half the horses in training would be out through injury and jockeys would be banned half the time if the industry listened to the ignorance of some on here!!

How do you 'avoid' racing in another country ? Ignore the opportunity perhaps. But not avoid.

Irish jumps racing is centred around a meeting in another jurisdiction. Ours is not.

If a trainer repeatedly chooses not to enter their best charges at a specific meeting over a period of time then it can be construed as avoidance eg if AOB ignores Epsom or French Derby.

Hendo has form!

Nonsense.

I should imagine winning in Ireland is low down the priority list for most connections operating in the UK. UK connections who want to win in Ireland have horses based in Ireland.

The double green is probably the most obvious example, having multiple horses in both regions. Do many of their UK based horses run in Ireland? I can't think of many examples.

"The double green...". Whose loss is that? UK trainers!

How is O'brien avoiding the Derby an example??

Everything Coolmore do is based around the Derby. Pathetic example.

Pumpkin's main goal nowadays seems to be winning the trainer's championship, and going to the DRF wouldn't help with that. Henderson has less of an excuse. I see Sophie Leech has the favourite in one of yhe handicaps today.

All of the top three trainers in the GB table are after the trainers championship as of course are Mullins and Elliott in Ireland. So no English runners in Ireland and no Irish ones at Sandown.

I mean how exciting would it have been if Constitution Hill had taken the trip over.
By:

Not sure what would be exciting about a 4/11 shot beating a 3/1 shot with 25/1 bar 2. We will have to endure that boring spectacle in March if they both get there in one piece.

British racing is second division. The Dublin festival is quality. The British aren’t needed.

Indeed, and Ms Leech has been rewarded with a £60k 1st prize. One has to buy a lottery ticket to have a chance of winning. And, how do the odds compare to winning a horserace regardless of its competitiveness.

I think the motto of taking part has gone in this game sadly.

Never mind that Mullins needs multiple entries to win but impossible expects UK trainers to win with perhaps one horse per race? Well done to Sophie tbf but slagging other trainers is way off beam if the "genius" Mullins cannot win with his perceived best?
By:

When: 03 Feb 24 17:53
An opportunity well found, it didn't look the strongest race for the money, and the horse has won with plenty in hand. Now 10/1 for the Grand Annual, but they are also thinking about the Plate.

Unfortunately, the spirit of competition died ages ago. Not helped by the sort of comments the hapless Harvey made this morning.

With the real Festival only weeks away and targets decided long ago can nobody understand the unwillingness to expose the best of British to possible injury or a hard race when ammo is limited?
By:
sparrow
When: 03 Feb 24 18:13
Yes targets decided long ago and thats it these days. Chose a couple of races and never deviate from that no matter what turns up.

Judging by todays results sparrow the Brits could do a lot better at Chelt than many thought and confidence of fresh horses might not be misplaced, remains to be seen tbh but no surprise if some declare their winner won because they swerved the self declared "Festival"?

When: 03 Feb 24 18:46
few bubbles burst today but thats to be expected, if the favs won every race there wouldnt be any bookies

Im still of the opinion some other british trained horses should have ventured over
I mean Pipe used to win the Imperial Cup then a handicap hurdle at the Festival like it joined in at the last
so the hard race scenario while legitimate reasoning isnt always the case some horses thrive on it

wd Sophie Leech and young James Reveley Wink

When: 03 Feb 24 18:50
Big difference between handicap planning and Grade 1 though NEC?
By:
N-east Correspondent
When: 03 Feb 24 18:51
yeh get that but the principle remains some horses thrive on racing
not being wrapped up in cotton wool and then flopping on the big day
which is a likely scenario at Cheltenham
By:
CagliariG
When: 03 Feb 24 19:01
Could be the case NEC but interesting to see who makes a run in Dublin an excuse for being beaten and who declares missing it for winning?

Just mind boggling though the likes of impossible spouting sh!te on here as if the trainers should take note?

Hope you are well btw!!?
