Be terrific if it happens. GW looks a monster over fences.

And the Uk watch on with envy
Ireland 1/3 for 17 winners at Cheltenham….ffs |

And throw in Found A Fifty just for good measure.

This person in the UK will be looking on with interest and enjoyment. I don't understand this nationalist element in racing at all. It's individual horses, it's not like football or rugby with national teams. I don't care where the horse's hay comes from. I'd drop the "Prestbury Cup" down a well.

Barry Connell on the Nick Luck Podcast Today says he will be very surprised if his Horse is beaten.

Thought Gaelic Warrior had a chance to go unbeaten rest of season , crikey that'd be a great tussle so close to the festivals.
Certainly not frightened to race the top notchers against each other in Ireland ![]() |

i agree hayden. we will see some smashing horses and hopefully good races ... but some of these fields are going to look like private mullins gallops by weekend . pray captain guinness runs in the dublin chase , gr 1 , or i expect willie will cop the lot in that one .

Don't know why any UK racing fan would watch in envy.
Good race to look forward to. |

Yes and there is more than one great Race to look forward to.

Surely form, but they are not "the UK".

Envy a bit stronge but there will certainly be a few owners and trainers feeling a wee bit lost watching this lot…
Apart from Henderson… |

Mr Mullins could be trying to find a viable race for Facile Vega at Cheltenham. Will Marine Nationale succumb to Gaelic Warrior? Facile Vega is 10/1 (only 6/1 nrnb) for The JLT.
|
|
By:
30%+ of entries on day one are WPM. Exclude the two handicaps takes it to 56%. Include GE and the equiv. %'s are 56% and 77%. Might look a bit different on the day!!!

|
By:
Hard enough for Gaelic Warrior to jump straight let alone beat Marine Nationale. Could easily end up being a clash that doesn't deliver. Seems a strange decision from Willie 'I'll find the easiest race' Mullins, particularly as this year the Turners looks such a weak race.

|
By:
GW has achieved considerably more over fences so far than MN. Already has a chase RPR of 160. No forlorn hope.
And where he runs thus weekend doesn't set in stone where ge runs in March. |
|
By:
If he beats Marine Nationale on Saturday he will surely go to the Arkle at Cheltenham. Allowing Fact To File free for the Turners.
|
|
By:
GW I reckon is a 7 pound better horse going right handed.
|
|
By:
Saxon, the three hurdles defeats that GW suffered at Auteil were on a left handed track, its often referred to as a right handed track but thats more to do with the two figure of eight chase courses that offer a multitude of variations.
|
|
By:
Auteuil is LEFTHANDED without the figure of 8

By:
Apart from which Patrick Mullins was concerned before Limerick GW jumps right handed as he informed his cousin pre race!
At Cheltenham in the Fred Winter he jumped markedly right handed, and as a novice again not so much in the Ballymore. |
|
By:
Yes, he's clearly better going right-handed, but he might still have enough to beat MN on what he has shown over fences so far, especially at Leopardstown. I can see why MN is favourite, just disagreeing with DD's suggestion above that GW has little chance.

Willie lied for a change
Gaelic not running. |

Word is that he couldn't get the Marine trainer to give him his running instructions so spat the dummy

That’s disappointing but not surprising
To be honest I’m a little disappointed at Saturdays card obviously some very good horses on show . |
|
By:
Typical. Already got previous with this horse having declared he would be a great fit for the Stayers Hurdle after which he gets punted down to favourite, and then he decides to go novice chasing despite having ample opportunity to do that the following season. I wonder how much ante-post bets that are hoovered up are down to Mullins. I would imagine a pretty high percentage, and no signs that he won't keep on giving.

Inside info was at play yesterday. I think over £500 wanted to back Marine Nationale at just 'odds-on and evens'. Similarly, in The Turners for Gaelic Warrior at 3.05 and 3.1. I wonder if there'll be an investigation as to who these well-informed "players" were.
But, Closutton is the biggest NH stable in Ireland. There were no investigation either concerning similar insider dealing concerning this stable. A leopard never changes its spots also applies to NH horseracing racing in Ireland. |

I'd hope Gaelic Warrior get stuffed tomorrow. If so he'll be mega odds next month given the similar geography of the course.
