I'm just wondering why there is such a discrepancy in the punishments handed out by the BHA.

Simon felt the need to avoid MH on the shared gallops. Same as BF did with RD. Simon could work his huge string of horses Devil at another time. BF had no choice but to be in the same weighing room at the same time as the creep.

Agree with you on that Hayden & Acey. It's a very stressful job though so you can see why plenty of Trainers and Jockeys hit it hard.

I feel sorry for his dependents esp his family. I hope his table staff would get similar employment elsewhere within the industry. As for Mr Harris I hope he uses the time away from horseracing intelligently to reflect on the causes of his latest predicament.

Went cold turkey back then as with caffeine , got Severe Chronic Cluster Headache Syndrome so the medication isn't compatible with alcohol and certainly not with caffeine.

What Tony Charlton did on Amantiss at Devon & Exeter in 1986 is still the most desperate thing I've ever seen a jockey do.

In July 2020, Earle reported Harris to the authorities over potential breaches of Covid protocols due to an event Harris was hosting at his yard.

Literally stalking Harris. Nothing wrong with this though, eh?

Acey and Hayden, I'm 4 years dry in March gents after being a heavy drinker. Now, it's like it doesn't exist and people drinking around me, at the races for example, doesn't bother me in the slightest.

DIFERENTGRAVY: He unluckily fell off the horse five yards from the line when it was in front and all hope had gone that something might finally go past it.

This Earle guy seemed to make plenty of accusations without actually having any proof. Could it be that seeing Harris getting good results whilst using the same facilities might have something to do with it? No proof, no charges yet the BHA still mention the accusations? Sounds like Earle might have a friend on the BHA.

Earle was said to be living “in fear” of Harris

But he still found the time and more importantly the courage to report him over "potential" breeches of Covid protocols.

My suspicion of a witch hunt starts from the committee’s hearing being held behind closed doors, despite the Racing Post wanting to give a blow by blow report. WHY?

Who knows but from some of the evidence Harris might end up being pleased it was or he might've been getting a knock at the door.

If it's concerning anything to do with a young person, then that person cannot be identified.

I have no idea what is going on BTW, horrible gossiping imvho, not fit and proper is a very big net imvho, with differing mesh size depending on the water depth.

I presume it is the same A. Charlton that rode for Toby Balding? I used to get info from that stable, the highlight being Morley Street's debut in a Sandown bumper.

Happy days

Has he done anything that warranted having his career in effect finished / destroyed?

A 'personality clash'(?) between trainers where Harris might have been OTT, and regarding the young girls, the committee accepted that Harris's actions towards SJO were not done for "reasons of sexual gratification". And presumably he hasn't done anything that required a police investigation.

So this leaves the terms of his licence regarding being a company director, and buying and selling.

Apparently on several occasions Harris had requested that the condition against him being a director be removed, but this was seemingly refused by the BHA.

I appreciate there was a history of bankruptcy, but did Harris deserve to have the condition held against his licence for an indefinite period? So who was being unreasonable here?

If I were Harris, I'd be looking to appeal, if there is an appeals process.

Johhny Farrelly was banned for a minimum of seven years 'under safeguarding regulations' back in 2021.
He said he intended to appeal against the judgement. Don't know if he did appeal though.
Should imagine Harris has a right to appeal.

Harris sounds like a dirty old c@@t, messaging 14/16 olds about sex.

Not the sort of bloke who should be anywhere young girls

I agree with George B, destroying his livelihood is a punishment that doesn't fit the crime.
Harris seems unpleasant from the evidence but Earle (5 winners in 5 yrs) comes across as a bit of a wimp with friends in high places.

What Mr Harris needs is a big (possibly new) backer eg Coolmore or JP, assuming the punishment does not fit the crime. Then how will BHA respond?
By:

When: 01 Feb 24 10:24
The stuff with the underage girls is unfortunate but from reading the report, there does not seem to have been a sexual element to it, just Harris's complete failure to recognise any limits. I guess openly telling Nick Luck's viewers about going into girls' bedrooms in the middle of the night to put the world to rights is part and parcel of this.

The BHA report also points out that when Harris has been given his licence back with conditions, he has blatantly ignored those conditions.

It is the same thing. Harris does not recognise any rules. He's had his chances and the BHA has basically given up on him.
By:
impossible123
When: 01 Feb 24 10:31
We have given up on the BHA too. But, we are stuck with them - no choice!
