always remember nevo getting asked 20/25 yrs ago or so why he spends more time in studio than on course,
he said the early days of betafair, getting the rattler with THE SHOE and co to southwell, wolves relieving mugs sat at home  of their hard earned are over,

That's when all the software started appearing stu and betfair later joined in as well as taking their share of the others with the PC. Some might say you reap what you sow.

Guess so sparrow, though of course we're working in the dark guessing about who operates and wins in inplay, but fair guess as above yes.

There is never an even playing field, even pre-race, of course, but at least in pre race you get plenty time to make your decisions unlike the crazyness of inrunning.

werbie, wd, someone got the 9s though, that's the problem,  win long term off BLV atr tracks, very doubtful.

Swifty, it wasn't me that got the 6s, I was all over the place in that race Crazy

always remember that ex commentator who packed in to go pro betting in running, telling people via a double page spread in the sun, that due to him beem an ex comm he was one of the best in running judges in the game
he didnt tell people he was sat in a shop in leeds getting a feed 6 secs faster than others stealing money of the mugs,
always wore a baseball cap ,can anyone remember his name ?, is he still one  of the best, Wink

werbie, I realised that after i posted!

I was watching the winner in that race too but as hulk said 6 became 2 in the space of a second or two at the 2 furlong pole!

I'd guess 99% of winning IR bets are placed using software of sorts (1-click, offsets, trades etc), be interesting to know what % is purely from automation via GPS. If the RTV tracks get it too then that really could signal the end for the sit-at-home punter.

Hibby, if you are still making money then you just have to accept the halcyon days are over, if you are losing now and only see it going one way then what are you waiting for, get out of here.

i totally agree with you swifty.

maybe if BF didn't have an 'exchange trading department' they wouldn't give a sh!t about what people were doing pre-race or in-running .. they'd just sit there and count their commission.

like what they are meant to do.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i'm surprised it only appears to be me and you who are even the slightest bit interested in that department tbh hulk...

if it's a commission only process why do they need a trading department ?

Good advice Swifty because anyone who has tried to profit from in running without drone access or being on course has been up against it for years, akin to betting against a bookie who already knows the result, betting against the above.

Amazingly some of the IR players on here take the pis$ out of anyone who bets pre-race when in fact they are at a bigger disadvantage.

Blah! Blah! Blah!  This might apply to some but not to all Plain

What I've thought for a long time after being an I/R backer for 20 years and only using LV, but in the early days red button and when it was quicker RTV, and it would be just the same if you are a layer, although liquidity is less, what some people confuse with changes in the delay is in fact their own confidence levels which often cause the player to second guess themselves and ultimately pulling the trigger too late, they then don't get matched or get a price too low and blame it on the delay.

When you are an I/R player there is no room for hesitancy, if you are confident you tend to get on earlier which will get you a better price, if not you will delay which leads to everything drying up. I've often wondered that I'd like to see when it is exactly that I place bets in a race during times of confident play against less confident times and it would be much earlier during the former.

duffy, don't disagree with any of that, confidence (winning/losing runs etc) a big factor, when as we know only the early bird catches the worm. the question is there's only so 'early' you can go before they're back in the stalls!

What I'm really getting at, and I'm a £5, £10, £15 backer is regardless of the state of play at the moment, I don't blame that for whether I win or lose, it's purely down to me reading things right or wrong, I believe it's still good enough for me and admittedly I'm certainly not doing as well as I used to and you could say that proves the argument against me and I just don't realize it because I'm a dope, which is a live possibility, but I just thing it's down to my own play.

everyone should just remember...

a hell of a lot can happen between LIVE and 1.8secs (which is actually the fastest MOST of us can get an in running bet on)...

that should never be forgotten.

Vast majority of my bets submitted 1st half of the race any distance using blv. Been to an exchange shop probably 3-4 times for quicker pics and won nowt.

so Mr.HUnt is wrong when he says the GPS boys must have had the winner at 1.6 in the photo swifty ?

coz surely nobody else could be betting it in the photo if you couldn't actually see the horse ?

Correct. Or, if they are, there're not widely available like TPD.

This was proved a few days ago at Naas in the heavy fog, when the clear leader and eventual winner was still available at 16s 2-out, then dropped straight into 1.2 as soon as runners came into view of the crowd.

GPS is accurate to about half a length. It's not even useful in the final furlong, let alone to predict the outcome of a photo.

Drone boys and tracksiders could see the finish.

The GPS isn't accurate enough in a 6 inch winning distance

interesting stuff lads...

i have no idea whatthe whole GPS stuff can do tbh...

Mr.Hunt seemed to be suggesting the GPS boys were the reason the winner was 1.6 in the photo but 'jamee' seems to think it was drone boys/tracksiders..

as i'm none of the above i can't really comment tbh.
