The brilliant unbeaten Nureyev, won the 2000gns coming from last place, stewards called, and Brough Scott said as they were going off air, don't worry if you back the winner go and collect.
Don't think the horse being French helped, the horse never raced again. |

The suffragette a sunken ship and the 1913 Epsom Derby is a fabulous story involving a stewards inquiry .Worth reading about .Sir Mark Prescott was talking about in an interview I saw ,I think one of his relations might have been one of the stewards.

Nureyev would be 1.1 to keep it, even in 2024 and also even if the BHA/Stewards were going through one of their by-the-book phases.
Apparently, he was disqualified for the minor drift right at the end, even though well ahead, causing the 3rd horse to drift towards Known Fact. There were no instances of contact/bumping. https://youtu.be/Iacyioh9Huk?si=Mia2zLXpFQ_4MBdd 1980 2000 Gns 2mins Nureyev big white blaze. Scandalous home decision and worse than any French turnover since. |

Slightly rem on from yesteryear involving Lester P, I don't rem the horses just the termanolgy used, Bumping Boring and taking my ground.
Was a three way go in a sprint, don't think anything was changed. Was on wrong end of the bag blowing accross track and cheese eater getting thrown out in the gp1 and carvillahow, never ever found out why it was chucked but had a decent bet on it, think I took 11/2 as well, was bigger on day(as ever). |

I always felt the bad decision by the stewards at royal ascot was a factor in royal gait keeping the champion hurdle after interference with oh so risky

I am getting mixed up, the same day Royal Gait was disc the Harwood horse inexplicably chucked it's pilot off, (Grevile Starkey) was leading down the middle of track, later transpired it had been the target of the special bins in some drugs trial months later.
Twas it that had been spooked by the bag in wind. Backed it as well as Royal Gait, bad day at the office. Il de chypre was it's name. The 1992 champion hurdle won by Royal Gait, yea rem that was on Granville Again, was so convinced it would have won i had a silly amount of cash on it following year, watching the footage on YT I don't know how the fvk I came to that conclusion although my eyesight is not so great now and YT footage pretty poor It did win following year again I felt beaten dumbly holding a 9/2 AP ticket about a 13/2 shot, it was a hot race on paper but won without much ado. These small wins were few and far between, but good memories of times past, unfortunately the winnings mostly got recycled. Now it's a mission to try and turn a profit and hold on to it, getting harder and harder but still very a very enjoyable pastime. Anyone got any tips? |
