Good write-up Foyles,
Funnily enough I had been thinking of I am maximus if the weather turned bad which it did. More rain forecast and like a bog already, I think he could out though the classier types. |

Yes, looks a belter. The two Chievely Park horses are big prices (around 30 on here) given their back class, including at Leopardstown. Geri only beat Envoi by a neck at Down Royal. Arguably, Shishkin franked the Ryanair form in the King George.

good luck all ,yeah if this were the chelte gold cup field youd be happy, full of quality and easily the best race of the season so far so far ,and credit to connections for standing their ground so far ,although with the conditions one or 2 could come out hopefully they will all start . been a bit of money for maximus one of the sirs may have put him up ,anyway whatever the result it s a race to savour .

I've got Maximus pegged as a Fairyhouse specialist at the moment, but as usual likely to be proved wrong. His stamina bound to be an asset tomorrow, and the Drinmore form has been franked. GL.

Funny you should say that strontium, talk was after his first race there people were saying he'd never run at that track again, as he kept jumping right ..
|
|

he could get found out by these proven top class horses but very lightly raced over fences and has big field exp , i remember this horse running in different silks for hendo (black with some white iirc ) jp must have bought him last year .

I’m a big Gerri fan tomorrow. Needs to brush up his jumping but has an immense engine. GDC has to get back on track but conditions tomorrow will suit him. Can’t have Fastorslow on that ground tomorrow so putting line through him.
3/1 Gerri In Savills is better value than 7/2 in Gold Cup IMO. Going in both barrels ![]() |

Galopin des champs will get a better pace to aim at tomorrow. The distance and going will help him and if you can get 2/1 He'll carry my money.

A proper grade one no bet for me but I will be hoping for a big run from a plus tard to put him back in the gold cup picture ,enjoy everyone

Yep, all over a gold cup performance by Galopin des Champs, ridden close to the pace there. Still 6/4 ap with slybet with maybe a saver on Fastorslow @ 7.4 on here. Difficult to get excited about any of the other runners.

Much as I can see Galopin Des Champs is the rightful favourite for the Gold cup I think 25/1 Bravemansgame is too big. Second to GDP last year he was unlucky in his first race this season, brought out too soon in the second against mud lover Royal Pagaille and interfered with. almost coming down in the King George before recovering to finish second to Hewick. Better ground and the extra two furlongs of the Gold cup and I can see him being competitive. I certainly haven't given up on him yet. Of course, there's always the chance of GDP getting injured (God forbid) before the Gold cup and I'd rather be on Bravemansgame at the prices. Look how close he got to GDP in the Punchestown Gold cup back in April... Nicholls will have him fresh and well prepared come March.

Agree entirely, the price differential is wrong.

Mayb e downgrade Galopin des Champs impressive win a bit having watched Townsend steer Grangeclare West the same wide course and also look very impressive late on with a wide margin win.

It does amaze me how poor most jockeys are when plotting a course.
Especially when it is day 3 or 4 of a festival. Wetherby is a course where being wide is a must. Ascot in midwinter. Cheltenham on the new course. But only a handful of jockeys are clued up to this. Townend well educated by Walsh on the importance of being wide. |
