The Jockey Cub Stakes was won by the Noel Murless-trained Buckhound, ridden by Sir Gordon Richards. He'd been ridden in all his work by Mrs Murless.
On the same day, Alec Brown beat Fred Davis 20 frames to 17 in a professional snooker tournament at Leicester Square Hall. Brown was receiving 16 points a frame.
