Can't think of a better pair of performances in any race
First thought when the King George is mentioned is that Captain Christy double in 1974 & 1975.Exhilarating stuff , beat Pendil around 8 lengths then trounced Bula 30 lengths the following year.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHFpZrqhvVchttps://www.yo
My memory is of a Xmas ruined, late 90s, Adrian Maguire asking for a big one at the last when well in control and not necessary
Barton Bank? don't want to Google it

I bet he was Tommy , you see a lot of both Pendil & Bula on these old nostalgic threads so to give each a heavy beating in two consecutive years takes some matching.

Remember watching Captain Christy beat Bula upstairs in the old members stand at Wetherby ,Neville Crump was watching it and Captain Christy was clear all the way and this punter probably on Bula kept saying he was going to come back,Crump got pretty irate with him and ended up calling him a xxxx, didn't mince his words didn't Neville

i was in boozer on boxing day for barton banks king george- a big tradition on murkeyside, i dunno if it is elsewhere but some geezer visiting from london told everyone it was a cert and tbf he did have a monkey on the thing
he was gracious afterwards although he was raging, understandably. its an punters cliche- shut it and dont give it until its won. just to rub it in, my mate had 5 ew on the winner-25/1 from memory and went bananas

See More Business a great horse as well. Should have won 2 Gold Cups but was carried out by a horse pulling up the first time. Might Bite probably the worst on the list although he did look good that season.
