@howard at least in your case I can see exactly why they would close your account - it's all cost and no revenue to them?
Report howard December 12, 2023 10:59 AM GMT
yeah true but I did get in touch with live chat and was willing to deposit some money to keep it open ( even though heavily restricted ) Very interesting to see that punters having modest bets have been closed down. As I said to them I thought the problem these days was betting too much. This mass cull needs to be brought to the attention of the media.

Don't get mad, get even. Submit a detailed and specific Data Subject Access Request (google "DSAR".

It will take you about half an hour to complete the request - if you make it detailed and specific, it will take them 100's of man-hours to comply with the law and respond.

Detailed and specific equals = all the information they hold on you - request that they supply your data both digitally and a hard-copy (paper), ask for copies of every bet you have ever had, your p&l, a list of all deposits and withdrawals, a list of all cards ever registered, all your personal details that they hold, a copy of EVERY e-mail and promotion you have ever been sent either via e-mail text or any other medium, a list of the ones you participated in, details of any "cash out" bets, a list of anybody/other companies/affiliates with whom they have shared your data, all notes on your account, copies and the transcripts from any complaints or queries, webchats, etc, etc.

They have a legal obligation to provide all of this within a timeline that is completely unmanagable!

If everybody that had their account restricted or closed did this, they would either need to reconsider their strategy or they would have to employ a small army of people to comply with the law.

We need knew rules. disassociate gaming from gambling, 2 different licences 2 different shops (not in 365 case)
and 2 completely different websites.
and you cannot have a gaming licence unless you have a betting licence if you want to take bets in the UK and all firms should have a minimum
win applied. ie £500 after 11am. no discrimination of punters.

Lady Carla & Sparrow must think you can't use the exchanges AND bookmaker accounts?  Had some of best my wins by using Bet365 and putting 2 selections in doubles that I felt were massively overpriced. The liquidity simply wasn't there at the same prices on here and by the time the markets sorted themselves out I couldn't get anyway near the same prices to make a homemade double.

Every punter has his own way of doing things. You might want to consider this next time you post on such a subject, it would save you from embarrassing yourselves.

As with Whippin just to add another example..

Played a bad e/way 5 horse acca , all place books were over broke , each race had an odds on fav , all horses went above the planned goal by actually winning , acca paid £62k.

Max bet £0.11 the following morning but with a syndicate the accounts are pretty much endless.

In Australia bookies cannot pick and choose what bets to accept or refuse. I believe they've to accept bets according to theri terms and conditions of their trading licence.

In the UK the bookies aided and abetted by the silence of their main mouthpiece ie the Racing Post tell the punters the stake they will accept (or not). Here, the bookies run the betting industry and determine the amount of the horseracing levy - not the government or the Gambling Commission (the toothless watchdog of betting).

Absolute rogues.

Sent a SAR under DPA regs. Alll responded to very quickly with a promise to supply information within prescribed timeframe. Suggests me me they anticipated an influx of such requests and have geared up for it. The question is why are they doing this? Best guess I cam make is that shutting a number of accounts is somehow allowing them to (ostensibly)  demonstrate to, e.g. Gambling Commission that they are taking action. In other words "oh yes, GC we've shut x accounts over y months" with the GC too stupid to realise that they are accounts already heavily limited not problem gamblers at all!

Is Gnoming Fraudulent?
This is a much bigger question than the fairness or unfairness of bookmakers placing restrictions on multiple accounts, or actively monitoring and tracking how we are accessing their services like the cyber police.

Helping a friend learn the matched betting ropes is one thing. But actively seeking to dupe the bookies into believing you are different people is another thing altogether. And it could be called fraud. The bookies don’t like it, and neither do the police. The real ones too, never mind the cyber cops.

Not only that, but if you were providing betting services and betting on the behalf of other people you should be paying tax on any earnings you made. Which would get HMRC involved. Though you would think that they had bigger fish to fry in the shape of multinational corporations avoiding paying tax by squeezing their murky profits through systemic loopholes, tax avoidance is tax avoidance.

Not only do most bookmakers restrict multi-accounts, no industry fulcrum - an accolade of which Yesbets is in receipt - recommends or condones multi-accounting, or gnoming.

That said, some bookmakers do allow partner accounts. Sky Bet, Ladbrokes and Bet Victor all allow partner accounts, while some others like Bet365 allow accounts at the same address but officially only allow one of those account holders to access any promotions.

Given that promotional free bets are the main tools of bagging profits from matched betting, this last is kind of a deal breaker.

The Minimum Bet Laws (MBLs) are a blessing for Australian punters, especially the successful ones! Without minimum betting laws, online bookies could pick and choose which wagers they would accept.

Whilst the limits depend on the state or territory, the MBLs guarantees that Australian punters can bet on all races with all Wagering Service Providers (WSPs).

How minimum bet laws are calculated is based on the amount of profit you can make is after the stake is returned to you. This is somewhat like the old days of fractional odds, so for example, if a horse is $5 and the limit is $2,000 you can place a $500 fixed odds bet on that horse to win $2,500 where $500 is your original stake and $2,000 is your profit.

The laws are as follows:

“Approved Australian off-course wagering operators are required to lay the odds displayed for fixed odds bets after 9:00am on race-day for thoroughbred day meetings or 2:00pm on race-day for thoroughbred night meetings to the limits below”

(9am onwards for all meetings in QLD and the ACT)

What are the Minimum Bet Limit Rules

Provided the wagering service provider’s annual turnover is over $5m, bookmakers must not:

Refuse to accept a fixed odds bet.

Close a person’s account.

Refuse to open a person’s account.

Place any restrictions on a person’s account.

Refuse to lay a fixed odds bet to any person when those fixed odds are publicly displayed.

Laying lesser odds to a person than those publicly displayed.

Perform any other act or refuse to do an act in order to avoid these provisions.

Racing NSW Minimum Bet Limits

The key points of the minimum bet limit conditions are as follows:

Wagering operators are not to take actions such as closing a punter’s accounts, refusing to open a punter’s account or placing restrictions on a punter’s account solely to avoid complying with the minimum bet limit conditions. However, wagering operators are still able to take such actions for legitimate reasons including undisclosed bowlers (persons betting on behalf of other persons), responsible gambling, fraudulent activity, money-laundering and other integrity related reasons such as the punter being warned off or disqualified.

Wagering operators are required to lay the odds displayed for fixed odds bets to the limits below. The minimum bet limit has been set at levels which are considered to be fair and balanced. Those levels were requested by most punters (although some professional punters requested higher levels) yet are still higher than what was requested by most wagering operators.

For Australian Wagering Operators with Net Assessable Turnover on NSW Thoroughbred races greater than or equal to $5 million

^^^^ this, needs to be brought in here asap.

the scalping is out of control
Report hulk23 December 20, 2023 8:37 AM GMT
if you apply for a bookmakers licence, get it granted, then scalp anyone who bets on anything other than the casino (meaning nobody can bet on horses) you have effectively gained a casino licence

otherwise known as a licence to print money.

It is a pity that there are no longer MP's that liked a bet like Robin Cook or Alec Salmond, todays MP's like bookies hospitality to much to rock the boat. The Racing Post is just a bookies mouthpiece so apart from a token moan every few months

hulk doesn't seem to know what "scalping" means in gambling/trading, which is ironic as it was what he claimed "£108 man" was doing to him before he changed to claiming that "£108 man" was not only identifying def losers but, in defiance of the laws of supply and demand, shortening their prices by asking for greater odds than available.

Duffy. They will never close you completely...just leave the casino option permenentely open just in case. I used to do loads of football with them, which lasted a year. One too many two up bonuses landed for their liking. So since may 2023 i am only left with on line fruit machines from them. They are not abookmaker at all

OP has done well to be with them for over 30 years, only founded in 2000!! Btw hulk no bookmaker is obliged to take a bet or provide an account, closing restricted accounts is simple housekeeping alongside dormant accounts.  ok not quite 30 years , but feels like that

and that.  there is a place for these gubbings.  but it should only be for the reasons listed above, not our traders have noticed you've been with us for a while and despite numerous attempts we've still not been able to get you hooked on the casino, so goodbye.
