Just beat a load of trees didn't it
Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 1, 2023 12:17 PM GMT
It beat claimers.
Report Angela Rebecchi • December 1, 2023 12:18 PM GMT
Nice for those on 40+ Antepost. Hasn't beaten much but never off the bridle so can't ask for more than that at this stage
Report Hayden • December 1, 2023 12:19 PM GMT
It's December 1st
Report CagliariG • December 1, 2023 12:21 PM GMT
Must be a world beater? Henderson said he has another 10 as good at home and he did not mean world beaters.
Report howard • December 1, 2023 12:21 PM GMT
you always want a horse that is visually impressive to have beaten nowt....beat decent horses and everyone twigs.
Report howard • December 1, 2023 12:24 PM GMT
and Angela R what about it's jumping pretty mindblowing first time out imo.
Report Ibrahima Sonko • December 1, 2023 12:25 PM GMT
I could jump hurdles well at 10mph.
Report JJmbe • December 1, 2023 12:26 PM GMT
Wouldn't be for me over 2m.
Report in hell • December 1, 2023 12:27 PM GMT
Can't see it being quicker enough for the Supreme personally, would be amazed if Mullins doesn't have something to beat it.

Last year the second coming won the same race
Report howard • December 1, 2023 12:34 PM GMT
yeah I agree. It was the horse I was impressed with rather than race target. But stayers can go well in the supreme although it would help if the race was on new course like the Triumph.
Report impossible123 • December 1, 2023 12:39 PM GMT
I do not see Jeriko as a Supreme horse. It's either The Neptune or Albert Bartlett. Personally, he's definitely not as impressive or slick as Willmount, his stablemate; 9 here is preposterous imo.

one of most impressive hurdles debuts i've seen

with the two Chris Gordon donkeys finishing right behind it ...
Report howard • December 1, 2023 12:57 PM GMT
followed by a p nicholls ...but i've already said I don't give a feck what's behind.
Report hulk23 • December 1, 2023 1:01 PM GMT
nicholls been sending his for pipe openers all season.

good chance centara will come on a lot for the run.
Report CagliariG • December 1, 2023 1:05 PM GMT
LOL Howard, Quixall Crossett could have been trained by Nichols but it would still be Quixall so basing a horses ability on a trainers name is hardly scientific!! HTH
Report howard • December 1, 2023 1:14 PM GMT
And Gordon  could have trained Frankel
Report the dealer • December 1, 2023 1:24 PM GMT
I never get "but it only beat trees" bit, it was  visually impressive and should improve again,  the fact it only beat 2 Chris Gordon horses imho will have no bearing how far it can progress.
Report penzance • December 1, 2023 1:25 PM GMT
The firm going 4s,they his sponsor?
Report impossible123 • December 1, 2023 1:27 PM GMT
Anymore from Hendo in the near future? Jeriko is definitely not for me in The Supreme 2024. I may contemplate a bet for him in The Neptune or Albert Bartlett.
Report mitolo • December 1, 2023 1:30 PM GMT
how many fours are they going?
Report penzance • December 1, 2023 1:31 PM GMT
Give up.How many?
Report howard • December 1, 2023 1:31 PM GMT
I say most pro gamblers would be able to watch an unraced horse be ridden alone round the track and be able to put a rough ( h'cap ) mark on it.  After all people pay massive money for breeze ups what have they beat ?
Report CROPSICK • December 1, 2023 1:35 PM GMT

Report CagliariG • December 1, 2023 1:35 PM GMT
Most trainers have an idea believe it or not Howard, so if Nicky has another 10 as good in his opinion are they all potential graded winners in his mind iyo?
Report howard • December 1, 2023 1:38 PM GMT
don't care cag. Make money on my own opinions.
Report howard • December 1, 2023 1:41 PM GMT
first few spins...you wouldn't have given sixpence for him  ( Nicky on CH )  Laugh
Report Cider • December 1, 2023 1:43 PM GMT
You can definitely infer a horse's ability against poor oppo 1st time up. My fav one was Sir Percy winning 1st time out at Goodwood. Was a g1 horse right there and than. Baeed another obvious one.
Report CagliariG • December 1, 2023 1:44 PM GMT
There were probably a few last year who had a similar opinion on Jet Powered in the same race, also trained by Nicky and learned it pays to be cautious?
Report howard • December 1, 2023 1:50 PM GMT
yeah cider.  Ist  run terrible conditions  but after his 2nd run I said to myself that's one of the best horses I've ever seen. Didn't care what he beat ( Frankel )
Report Cider • December 1, 2023 1:51 PM GMT
My own personal opinion is that Jeriko didn't especially stand out there, tho Nico obviously tried to make it look as comfortable as possible. Was exactly Constitution Hill like first time up.

The trainer does make a difference as the top ones usually know what they have got. Hendo has had enough of them.
Report Cider • December 1, 2023 1:53 PM GMT
#wasn't
Report strontium • December 1, 2023 3:22 PM GMT
So, does he send Willmount or Jehrico to the Tolworth? Where does the other one go?
Report impossible123 • December 1, 2023 6:30 PM GMT
I believe Hendo hinted The Tolworth for Willmount but, the venue and/or date has changed; I believe it's at Aintree of Boxing Date. And, Nico cannot be at Kempton (Shishkin/King George) and Aintree (Willmouth). Hence, he'd be looking for a race in January.
Report sageform • December 1, 2023 7:55 PM GMT
Nicky mentioned the Boxing Day race at Kempton as the likely target. What he beat today were 105 rated at best so it taught us absolutely nothing about his ability although he did nothing wrong.
Report howard • December 2, 2023 11:17 AM GMT
If you're a backer you don't want "us"  ( everybody ) taught about horses though. I know you look at things like an historian. But for backers if a horse beats good horses /has good form and /or records a very good timefigure you really do struggle for a value bet.
Report CagliariG • December 2, 2023 11:25 AM GMT
That is a weird post Howard, cannot fathom what exactly you are trying to say?
Report CagliariG • December 2, 2023 11:40 AM GMT
Btw Jet Powered who won the same race last year runs at 1340 hrs today, the caution I advised re the hype punters are giving yesterdays winner was that he was beaten at 2/7 next time out. Not only that but backing yesterdays winner for a race he may not even run in at even the 12s before the race was an example of punters being sucked into hype over substance.
Report howard • December 2, 2023 11:42 AM GMT
you are "Against the crowd " as Alan Potts would say. Other pro backers have said form and information are punters great false gods. Phil Bull himself said many of his very best bets were on horses that ran a stinker LTO.
Report howard • December 2, 2023 11:45 AM GMT
btw I was  just impressed with the horse yesterday. I doubt whether I will ever back it.
Report Cider • December 2, 2023 11:47 AM GMT
They don't always do it on the track do they, but Constitution Hill had a monster rep before he ran for example. It's not my MO, but people who bet AP on reputation and rumour coming out of high profile yards before running on a track will have winners and losers, like anything else. At least at double figures you don't have to get it right very often to win overall.
Report CagliariG • December 2, 2023 11:56 AM GMT
Absolutely nothing that came out of Seven Barrows could have prompted the shortening before yesterdays race, certainly nothing Henderson had said so anyone who did back the horse did so blind or sucked in by the layers? Even post race their shortening had no substance in terms of the Supreme, tbh I would much rather have £600 @ 2s on the day than a £100 ap @ 12s in December.

I was there that day Cider and he caught my eye too.

Got 33's for the 2000 and put him in a few good sized doubles for next season , one with Brave Inca for the CH - think 6/1 him

Went to Newmarket hoping George Washington would misbehave but it wasn't to be ..

Still made a good few bob

My first aftertime for many a year...  apologies but it brought back good memories Mischief

trees today ?
Report Angela Rebecchi • December 30, 2023 12:51 PM GMT
Got a very nice engine this one. Wonder if it will be even better on better ground too? King's horse will be sure to improve for better ground
Report wondersobright • December 30, 2023 12:51 PM GMT
he's a good english trained novice what that's worth in the wider realm is anyones guess at this stage
Report ashleigh • December 30, 2023 12:52 PM GMT
4/1 for the Supreme.
Report Hayden • December 30, 2023 1:18 PM GMT
Good call Howard pretty impressive , good comment from wondersobright also by emphasising the caution of it being English trained for ante post punters.
Report wondersobright • January 27, 2024 1:35 PM GMT
an eyeballs out lay for the supreme imo
