How many of you on here will be backing this at 9-4?

you'd hope people frequenting the Betfair forum might have heard of Betfair (4.6)

Indeed. Is it a 7/2 shot in a 23 horse handicap? He was clobbered a distance by Constitution Hill.

The general view is he's been let in lightly. I think Scriptwriter is a tough horse and could spring a surprise.

probably the worstest 9-4 shot i have ever seen in my life....Lay it for every penny you got and no need to thank me.Cool

Whether 4.3 is a correct price is difficult to evaluate (for me anyway) but I was very impressed by his Ascot win so wouldn't lay it.

can fully understand people swerving it at that price but i do think it will win

Can't argue with that broady. Yes the probable winner but taking 9-4 with the crooks in a 23 Australian handicap  or even a bit higher on here is not for value seekers.
Crooks taking the usual **** out of punters. At least go 11-4. It's akin to taking 1-2 heads in a coin toss because you strongly fancy it.

Best jockey on the planet……ffs

If someone will guarantee the beast has at least 1 length to spare on form over the others - all things being equal - I'll back him at 7/2 in this 23 runner handicap; I've never back one for this race before. But, 7/2 is still terribly short for any handicap of this size unless the trainer was Sir Cecil (Kneller); Kneller won at 9/1 in a 21-runner contest Ebor.

I think Moore is riding like a demon possessed, and with luck at the moment. However, to be lauded as the best jockey on the planet is vociferously and blatantly disingenuous; Moore could shine Piggott/Cauthen/Eddery/Murtagh/Kinane's riding boots.

Nonetheless, I hope he wins for backers. Alarm clock at 4am anyone?

I'd suspect Moore would outride all 5 at this present time impossible for one reason or another.

It's a throwaway line, but presupposes that he is being compared to his peers that are still riding.

Yes tongue-in-cheek cider , these debates about different era of jockeys / horses / trainers comparisons never reach any individual conclusion though aside from the opinion you had from the outset , they go on forever.

Personally i'd say Ryan is better than them all as i believe jockeys today are fitter & stronger at the highest level.

That said though it doesn't matter a jot if i'm right or wrong as it can never to proven.

Very interesting race impossible and i'll be up at 4am for the Ice Hockey & NFL anyway at that time.

Good luck all  Happy

I've got to admit Moore is riding much better this season and most of last too; I do not know the improved form, the difference is palpable. Prior he was diabolical esp at Ascot. So many of his fancied rides mostly favs lost because Moore was caught napping at the start. Also, his fav passage up the inside next to the rail was repeatedly met with traffic resembling those at rush hour in Central London.

A combination. It took him a long time to fully recover from that significant injury he got in the stalls, in my opinion. Definitely changed mindset and riding more aggressively. And, AOB is in a purple patch, a very strong group of horses currently, after a quiet period.

One thing you have to eradicate from the brain when forming past vs present opinions is nostalgia , which i believe plenty are swayed by in all sports.

8/1 eachway ant tea pose imo

I think given his exploits in Australia (won their big 3 plus a whole host of others) Ryan would’ve had his pick of pretty much whoever he liked here so sticking with Vauban is a positive.

Just notice who that slippery so and so Mullins got to ride the other one…Zac Purton lol no1 jockey in Hong Kong.

So maybe Absurde is the one to be one.

Happy enough with Vauban though…they deserve it after Frankie messed up the ride on Max Dynamite.

I think all this comparison stuff is an age thing , as with music comparing sixties , eighties and so on , people tend to favour when they were in their own perceived prime or whenever their best life memories happened.

Yes and no. Technology has killed the need for humans to be genuinely gifted in a lot of areas. For example, bo rap just wouldn't get made now, all by a machine. Who knows what genuine AI will do.

Yes, you expect sportsmen to improve over time as equipment, techniques, diet, sports science & training methods improve. Also, new records that are set then become the new targets that people aim for.
