thought that was a very odd conclusion to reach...last year's form: 111111!!!!!!

That term is a bit harsh given his record and coming back from illness. He definitely has some quirks though. Races lazily, hangs badly on occasion, there was definitely an element of putting the anchors on last week. AOB has already tried the pieces.
Report Hayden October 26, 2023 2:46 PM BST
Yes lazily is probably the best description , maybe runs in snatches as well.

Can still be a good horse though despite , remember Derring Rose  Grin

Dodgepot but pulled miles clear of the rest....Aint havin it.Plain
Report Cider October 26, 2023 2:48 PM BST
Not a dodgepot. Montjeu was my favourite racehorse of all time, and he was pretty quirky.
Report Cider October 26, 2023 2:51 PM BST
Frankel of course was a bit of a tearaway, esp in the early races. The best ones often have something of the night about them Grin
Report 1st time poster October 26, 2023 2:51 PM BST
didnt he head for a bagutte in the main stand at longchamp last season ?
Report acey deucy October 26, 2023 2:53 PM BST
A bit quirky but Brave As A Lion in my book.
Report Hayden October 26, 2023 3:01 PM BST
Yes fair comment i think , needs stoking in his races but no evidence of rogue behaviour.
Report impossible123 October 26, 2023 3:37 PM BST
Monkey? No way. His triumph over Stradivarius and Trueshan was as genuine as any horse winning a race as I've seen. I think his latest exertion could be put down to the ground, his 2nd race after a lay-off, and Moore hitting the front too early; Dettori challenging wide on his blindside was another.

I'll back him next time against any stayer in the UK and Ireland.

Coming back at the winner close home, some monkey

Navan led over 3f out
Leopardstown made all
Royal Ascot led inside final 2f
Goodwood  led over 3f out
Curragh led over 3f out
Longshamp no need to comment

All his runs and wins at 3, imho hardly suggests Moore went too early.

Navan run at 4, which he undoubtedly needed he wasn't at his best. At Royal Ascot imo he did nothing wrong neither did the jockey.

He looks a tad quirky but as game as they come.

Timeform say the best performance by a stayer for years Cadran 2022.  Bottomless & 20f.   Always going to be needed to be asked a question at 16f in top company.  Go back to Le Moss one of the best 20f horses ever. Beat in the Leger.

I expect Nick to come on here and retract that statement....I know he reads The Forum.Wink

When is Kyprios' next run here or Ireland? Maybe Mr Luck could envisage 'laying' him.
Report Cider October 26, 2023 4:25 PM BST
I don't know why (and this applies to many areas of life), so many people are seemingly very offended by someone else holding a different opinion to their own. Why does it matter whether Luck thinks Kyprios is the biggest monkey since Salselon or not. It's really quite bizarre. Sure, it's a discussion point, but what you think yourself is what counts, and on the rare occasion your opinion may be swayed by evidence presented by others.
Report acey deucy October 26, 2023 4:29 PM BST
Luck is he pro he should know better.Grin
Report impossible123 October 26, 2023 4:36 PM BST
Indeed 'acey'. Mr Luck is a pro, and he's a public voice; us small fish does not. I vehemently disagree with Mr Luck on this. I wonder if Ms Hislop would opine on his statement.
Report cacique October 26, 2023 4:39 PM BST
maybe the horse is falling out of love with the game.
coming back from Injury, maybe he's holding a little back and not able to give 100% to go through the pain barrier.....
Report Hayden October 26, 2023 4:42 PM BST
Whether to future lay it or not isn't relevant as perceived rogues win races as do genuine horses lose races.

Without differences of opinion the betfair exchange wouldn't exist.
Report rothko October 26, 2023 4:42 PM BST
Given being off a year with such a serious injury and the risk of never racing again two seconds in a group 1 and a group 2 is a miracle.

I wished i owned a monkey like Kyprios
