Good work Sparrow.

Thanks, slippy.

I'm surprised very few outside trainers use Ms Turner. I think she's as good if not better than most present better supported female jockeys. Another is Ms Gordon.
By:
Long trip to Newcastle for one, will check her rides tomorrow then at Kempton.
By:
Only ride at Kempton.
By:
always had it in my mind she would get the 1000 on a Simcock horse.
By:
i've noticed over the last few days trainers HT normally rides for have had plenty of runners yet she hasn't been on any of them...
makes me think she has one lined up and is keeping it for a special occasion... i might be wrong tho. |
By:
No money tonight, got one for Owen Promotions Newcastle Saturday....
By:
Botti having a few winners praps he could dig one out for her..
By:
One ride and she gets left 3 lengths.
By:
no idea if/when Southwell is back on 11kv...
but i have a sneaky feeling she would like to get the thousand up at her home track... i could be totally wrong tho. |
By:
no point doing it when nobody's watching.
itv cameras are at newcastle on saturday ![]() |
By:
nothing sneaky Hibs you probably read it
"I'd have liked it to be at Southwell, just because my first ride was there and obviously it's my home town. I know it's not the most glamorous, people would think Ascot would be ideal, but I just think it would be a nice story. "Especially because my nana used to go there all the time to watch me. We've got a bench at Southwell which says: 'In memory of Nana Bunny, Hayley Turner's biggest fan'. It's a really popular bench, right by the paddock where she used to stand." |
By:
as i said swifty i've no idea if Southwell is raceable now or in the near future...
i know it was flooded... and i knew Southwell was her home track so i put 2 and 2 together and came up with 22. |
By:
but there's no doubt she hasn't been taking rides over the last few days she probably could have ridden...
Balding...Eustace...Simcock... which says to me she is saving her next winner for a big occasion... maybe Newcastle as Hulk says... maybe Southwell... i could be completely wrong and it could end up being at Lingfield or Great leighs. |
By:
she rode that fav last night that was expected, I think it really is a case that she's out of favour, hence i suggested 1000 and out.
By:
from what i remember the Balding horse drifted and the Palmer horse was backed swifty...
but as my memory is poor i have probably got that the wrong way around. |
By:
and she does ride for Palmer (especially at Chester tbf).
By:
Chelmsford 7:00 Thursday night..
Red Jewel... pretty sure she has ridden that a few times before... she ain't on it... she's definitely holding back for the big day imv. she probably could have ridden Flag Carrier in the 5:30 also. |
By:
Ms Hayley does not get the same support as some other "senior" female jocks. Of topic: Waht was the reason Ms Gordon is no longer riding for Palmer? She was a headline female jock not so long ago. If a trainer is merely exercising their "duty or commitment" to owners I can understand.
I hope Ms Hayley does not retire post 1000 unless she does not want to do it anymore. |

I remember when Stan Mellor was on 999 winners and it was big news at the time as no NH jockey had ridden 1,000 winners. I cannot remember how many rides it took but if I had bet on them with the martingale staking plan I would have ran out of cash. He did eventually get there but many a bookie had a Caribbean holiday that year.
By:
On 10 December 1971, Mellor rode his 999th winner at Cheltenham. Despite another six rides there the next day, he couldn't add to it. Mellor spent another week trying to pass the landmark, racking up seven more losers in the process. His wife travelled with him every day so as not to miss the celebrations.
Finally, at Nottingham on 18 December 1971, he piloted grey gelding Ouzo to victory in the otherwise unremarkable Christmas Spirit Novices' Chase, thus becoming the first jump jockey to ride 1,000 winners. Dismounting from Ouzo, Mellor proclaimed it "a great relief" and was presented with an inscribed silver salver by his wife on behalf of the racecourse.[5] |
By:
I knew it was Ouzo but could not remember much more.
By:
Hayley has been waiting for 'the big day'...
absolutely no doubt in my mind... still think it will happen at Southwell (if it is raceable of course). |
By:
The next one will be the one - breathing fire ;)
By:
Maybe not - more like a lamb
By:
Couple at Dunstall tonight.
By:
is she still on 998 ?
By:
999.Rode a wnr a week or so ago.
By:
is Southwell (pronounced Suthall) fit for racing atm ?
By:
Southwell could return to racing this month, but with the public. It's waterlogged, and some infrastructures will need major repairs or replacements apparently.
By:
can't see Hayley waiting that long tbh...
i reckon option B is ride her 1000th on a Simc0ck horse. |
By:
She'll take no 1000 on any rnr.
By:
Katstar for Harry Eustace in the 5.00 Wolv was as high as 22/1 this morning and down to 14/1 at present (Sea the Stars gelding).
The 5.30 mount, Twilight Melody (25/1) for Joseph Parr at least has some experience on some of these and ran prominently before tiring on soft last time. Wouldn't be surprised if she ran quite well again. |
By:
Wonder why she's having her 1st ever ride on one of Parrs' horses here, he does quite well at wolver with a SR of 19%.
By:
surely Hayley could've ridden this Balding horse at Newcastle ?
By:
mind you maybe 'The Abdullah's' don't want a lassie riding ?
By:
a missed opportunity there.
