I started with William Jarvis, then Josh Gifford, then a very small trainer called John Sheehan and finally the wonderful Lady Herries.

I remember whilst working for William Jarvis that he was having a 'relationship' with one of the stable lasses which we all thought was a secret and only a handful of us in the stables knew about but we woke up one Sunday and it was front page of 'The News of the World'........not a secret anymore. Wonder if Willie went round all the newsagents in Newmarket trying to buy up every copyLaugh
