How strange that could be anyone’s favourite place.

yep, Rocky Dreams, last ran in AW hc off mark in the 70s , running off just 50, drifts like a barge, runs like a drain. It's all guesswork.

Jimnast - I agree that is is hard to understand that it could be anyone's favourite place, but your comments suggest that you have never been?  Your 12.04 post is silly but humorous.

I first went to Laytown about 1966 as it was the local meeting along with Bellewstown. Laytown was good in those days as there was no health and safety, most people were

on the beach as it was free, funfair etc. Only a few serious racegoers paid to go into the racefield where amenities were very basic, a parade ring and a temporary bar.

Races were allowed with a turn so you had 2 mile races. Insurance only covers 7f straight races now after a pile up on the bend.

I think the current Laytown is overated and people only go for the novelty value. I would have no interest in going now, much prefer Bellewstown but that was better when they had a chase course.
