Just one thing crossed my mind.  Police had her under suspicion for a while but why didn't they have some hidden cameras installed to check out any unusual behaviour?  Didn't see any mention of it in the Panorama programme.

Amazing that a trial can last 10 months. How many people could get that length of time off work ?Did all 12 jurors manage to do the whole stint ?
Report Hayden August 19, 2023 11:05 AM BST
Thought the jury time was only 22 days.

Sky's coverage this morning highlighted just how many questions are still to be answered , plenty.
Report Ramruma August 19, 2023 11:06 AM BST
Aiui Letby had already been moved away from the baby unit before the police were called in, so they'd not have filmed any murders anyway.
Report Tattcorner August 19, 2023 11:12 AM BST
Thanks Ramruma...pity, with CCTV everywhere it could have saved a life in the right position.
Report Hayden August 19, 2023 11:14 AM BST
Sorry didn't know it went on for 10 months , hell of a stretch.
Report scrabbler August 19, 2023 11:36 AM BST
According to the Daily Mail the jury sat for over 145 days.

That's a lifetime , hope they had a nice hotel.

Heads need to roll when this is all over. How can those pen pushers keep their jobs when ignoring and flicking away medical pros concerns about what was happening - all to protect the image of their hospital, no doubt. How will they sleep at night knowing what hey did?
Report Hayden August 19, 2023 11:47 AM BST
Exactly Paul , the investigation has only just begun.
Report cufmos August 19, 2023 11:54 AM BST
They have all moved on, elsewhere in the NHS, the private sector and consultants. The one working for Nuffield Health will probably get a nice payoff to disappear and can't see the consultants getting much work now !
The one still working in the NHS will no doubt be taking early retirement, stress or some other ill health excuse.

Awful case heartbreaking but as ever those in authority utter those words lessons will be learned and that will be it.

How long has the 'not having to appear in court for sentencing' option been available to those convicted. Doesn't quite chime with the brutal "send him/her down" tradition.
Report Ramruma August 19, 2023 12:52 PM BST
Always but the Justice Secretary said he plans to force convicts to appear for sentencing. Personally, I really don't think it matters.

But if the Judge pronounced sentence immediately the jury said shedunnit, rather than waiting a few days, the problem would largely disappear. It is not as if the judge has not known from the outset what the possible verdicts are.
Report scrabbler August 19, 2023 1:04 PM BST
^ But instant sentencing would deny those well-paid KCs an extra day in court.
Report DonegalPrince August 19, 2023 1:24 PM BST
scrabbler, by the end there were 11 so they lost 1 during the trial. There can still be a verdict with 10 but any fewer and they would be discharged and it would start again with a fresh 12

A jury trial can be decided by a minimum of 9 jurors in England.

all covered up by the hospital execs...

shamefull again.
Report dambuster August 19, 2023 3:26 PM BST
I know it won't bring there babies back, but i'd like to see the parents sue the hospital for millions,
and the people in charge who turned a blind eye get done for accessory to murder. But they'll say that pathetic cover up sentence, 'Lessons will be learned'.
This is absolutely appalling. People knowing what she was like and keeping there mouths shut. We are talking about murdering children, not going home 10 mins before there shift ends.
Report TINnotaTON August 19, 2023 4:54 PM BST
Surprised your point hasnt been posted already dambuster, but spot on. I would also love to know who this top hospital manager was, who insisted these consultants raising the red flags, write a letter of apology to letby over the accusations against her. This **** should be named and asked now about his position in this. Two of them had to attend mediation also. Typical NHS bosses, most of them not fit for purpose and i worked in that industry and witnessed it first hand.

I think all the Management have been named or are easily accessible TNT.
Report TINnotaTON August 19, 2023 5:02 PM BST
Should have read " asked about there position in this. "
Report TINnotaTON August 19, 2023 5:04 PM BST
ok GLASGOW thanks, nice to know if that's the case, whole thing is just completely unacceptable. feel for the parents massive..
Report paulypaul August 19, 2023 6:04 PM BST
Shows the ineptitude and when you look at the layer of management in public sector anything these days, there's no wonder it's a sh*t show. I agree with everything Dambuster has written and TINnotaaTON too. Well said.
