The post is about what he said beforehand that he knew what was gonna happen. To confound it he then says the opposite after the race.

Did you see the speed that Quickthorn was clocking in the middle of the race? He was going way faster than any usual stayer could cope with. No way any of them could have tried to keep up without bursting their respective mounts. To my eye he wasn't even stopping compared to the chasers. They only chance they had was hoping that he had burst himself.

Last time but the post isn't about how the race but what Murphy said. Beforehand he said that Tom would be going off in front and he wasn't gonna let him get it too easy. Afterwards he says that as he said before the race everyone was expecting him to ride his horse quietly. A total contradiction.

Yes I know what he said. What I'm telling you is that in the actual race TM went so fast that it wouldn't have been possible for OM not to let him go without destroying his own race. It obviously will have looked bad to the uneducated, perhaps OM was just trying to mitigate how it looked to novice viewers. Anyone schooled in the game should know that there was absolutely nothing the field could have done about it, and in OM's case he was not even able to 'win' the race for 2nd.

So he didn't contradict himself then by what he said? Again NOTHING to do with how the race went. Just purely his comments before and after the race.

Before race - I'm not gonna let Tom have it his own way. After race - people were expecting me to ride a quiet race from what I said before the race. Total bolix from him. Nothing to do with what happened during the race.

You are missing the element of what is now known (and was not known for the pre race comments). Q bolted clear of the field, RP have him 16L clear at half way. We also know he never came back and won the race unchallenged.

Would OM confirm that he would not let Tom have his own way knowing that he would have to burst his horse to achieve it. Absolutely not.

The winner won well, that's not in dispute. But you keep purposely missing my point. He said afterwards that he intimated beforehand he'd be riding a quiet race. He didn't say that at all. That's my point. Then to confound it he says the winner got such a big lead as he was able to go round the first bends quicker. Total nonsense.
