Extra £12.50 a day to get on the road in London boroughs. How to instantly boost inflation and unemployment in one fell swoop, everyone affected should refuse to pay it, let them fill their courts with hundreds of thousands refusing to pay, that'll teach that Sadik Khan bloke.
Yep, expect other big cities will follow, don't drive much these days so my old diesel is on the drive most of time and does about 2,500 miles a year now i'm retired, if it comes to Birmingham soon i'll probably get rid and use my bus pass, thus taking £5/600 a year Insurance, £200 rd tax, £50 MOT, say another £200 a year maintenance and Petrol and RAC costs out of the economy and that's just me.

Crime, shoplifting and anti-social behaviour has increased by over a third in Co-op shops in the past year.
The company has revealed that almost 1,000 incidents occurred every day in shops in the first six months of 2023, a total of more than 175,000.
One shop in inner London was "looted" three times in a single day.
It's already a third world hell hole, now he is expanding it to the M25.

Anyone here ever experienced air pollution such as the great smog of London 1952? A few less cars on the road then as well
....How many cars were there in the UK in 1952?
Seventy years ago, there were 2,521,000 cars on the road, compared with 35 million at the end of 2021.

I'm not worried Dave, as i said probably only drive 2 or 3 times a week and do very few miles and it's not a kn@cker either, doubt much pollution coming from me. What about all the small tradesmen driving diesel vans and trucks.

For interest, I put my 11 year old car registration in on a checking site and my car wouldn't have to pay not that I'm taking my car anywhere near London anytime soon.

Being able to drive and having a car give one independence and convenience. For instance, no waiting at the bus stops in the winter when it could be freezing. Also, able to buy and carry more meaning fewer trips into town for shopping saving loads of time weekly.
Mr Khan is an attention seeker and totally out-of-touch with reality and present struggles of people with the cost of living. The bloke is a political liability and an anal-passage; ulez is a good policy but not when most are struggling to get by presently.

The pr1ck is supposed to be in favour of female safety.
I suspect people who don't know it well have no concept of what it's like in parts of the outskirts of London. To believe that you you could rely on public transport is laughable.

Female safety? He was conspicuously quiet kept when his fellow countrymen used and sexually abused young white female up north. The bloke has let power take away his ability to judge and evaluate a policy accordingly.

The biggest Con and spin of all, global warming and ulez, even Bradford have ulez what a joke, 2400 power stations in the world and we still have 2 working due to close soon

If the additional daily travelling tax isn't going to hit relatively poor working people, why roll it out? The cameras alone cost £60 million I believe.

Yes I would. It's all about rationality isn't it, it's completely rational to discourage traffic where you can hop in a bus to go anywhere in a bus, fully built up and practically can't be anywhere without a tube station within sight, and effectively the countryside. The expansion is about punishment and raking in revenue.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, today (Thursday 26 March) confirmed the introduction of the world’s first Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), and welcomed an increased fund of £65 million to help support London taxi drivers’ transition to zero emission capable taxis.
Following a positive consultation process, the Ultra Low Emission Zone will launch in central London on 7 September 2020, significantly improving air quality and helping to protect the health of Londoners. It will require vehicles travelling in the Congestion Charge Zone of central London to meet new emission standards 24 hours a day, seven days a week or pay a daily charge.

• £65 million to deliver plans for cleaner taxis, including extra £25m from Government • From 2020, ULEZ will reduce most harmful vehicle exhaust pollutants by more than half • More than 16,000 consultation responses, 79 per cent in favour of improving London’s air quality

If they were interested in cleaning the air they would ban air polluting cars altogether but they are not interested in cleaning the air quality as polluting vehicles can still pollute the air but it will cost them. A big scam to transfer wealth again from the poor to the rich....just like Covid and the C19 Vax and Climate Change......money trickling out of the poors pocket into the already mega wealthy and will get worse when CBDC comes in in the near future

I don't believe it's the end game. This gets the camera infrastructure in place and now you can't go anywhere in London without someone knowing where (your car at least). They can therefore control how far you can drive, and when. And charge you for it.

Labour wanted to free the working classes when I was a kid, now they want them unable to go where they like when they like. 79% in favour of cleaner air. I doubt they asked how many wanted to pay an extra £90 a week for it.

1. Ulez was started by Boris. 2. Expansion of Ulez was demanded by the government (Grant Shapps, Transport Secretary) as price for bailing out TfL over Covid losses. 3. Only about half London households (families, not people) have cars. 4. 9 out of 10 cars are exempt, including classic cars, petrol cars since 2006 and diesels since 2015. 5. Big Brother can already track your car by camera, and you by your phone. 6. There's a scrappage scheme, albeit not a very generous one. 7. Check your car here: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/ 8. WFM.

Just to be clear, Ramruma. You don't believe the goalposts will be moved once it is live. ie in 10 years time, practically nobody will be paying the tax?

in ten years time all petrol/diesel cars will be facing a ban, which is much more of a campaigning issue that encouraging ppl to get rid of filth spewing diesels.

Oh, no doubt. First they will need the money. Second, even electric cars cause pollution and are in some ways worse because they are so heavy (road damage, tyre wear). On the other hand, children with asthma should be better off. But I do not see it as some overarching conspiracy.

A well known psychological manoeuvre to fool the gullible. The same techniques were applied throughout the covid nonsense. Although perhaps this particular slice is seeing more resistance than they anticipated.

Electric car batteries use rare minerals and metals from the earth. They are finite resources but soon everyone will need them for there car from Chelmsford to China. This will push the price up so much electric cars will not be affordable or even attainable in numbers for the poorer drivers.

London is fast approaching failed city status and I don’t see things ever getting better.
Rents have sky rocketed and will continue to do so, the cost of living will keep going up, basic public services will continue to decline, crime will get even worse and the place is completely over run with the Alphabet lot.
This just isn’t going to get fixed ever. So I’m out.
Signed contracts on a place up North a couple weeks backs.
Pretty happy because I’ll be able to visit a lot of the tracks Ive always wanted to visit but never had the time to travel up to from London.
I’m thinking of making Pontefract my first stop but we’ll see.
