If they were interested in cleaning the air they would ban air polluting cars altogether but they are not interested in cleaning the air quality as polluting vehicles can still pollute the air but it will cost them. A big scam to transfer wealth again from the poor to the rich....just like Covid and the C19 Vax and Climate Change......money trickling out of the poors pocket into the already mega wealthy and will get worse when CBDC comes in in the near future

I don't believe it's the end game. This gets the camera infrastructure in place and now you can't go anywhere in London without someone knowing where (your car at least). They can therefore control how far you can drive, and when. And charge you for it.

Labour wanted to free the working classes when I was a kid, now they want them unable to go where they like when they like.
79% in favour of cleaner air. I doubt they asked how many wanted to pay an extra £90 a week for it. |

1. Ulez was started by Boris.
2. Expansion of Ulez was demanded by the government (Grant Shapps, Transport Secretary) as price for bailing out TfL over Covid losses. 3. Only about half London households (families, not people) have cars. 4. 9 out of 10 cars are exempt, including classic cars, petrol cars since 2006 and diesels since 2015. 5. Big Brother can already track your car by camera, and you by your phone. 6. There's a scrappage scheme, albeit not a very generous one. 7. Check your car here: https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/ 8. WFM. |

Just to be clear, Ramruma. You don't believe the goalposts will be moved once it is live. ie in 10 years time, practically nobody will be paying the tax?
|

By:
in ten years time all petrol/diesel cars will be facing a ban, which is much more of a campaigning issue that encouraging ppl to get rid of filth spewing diesels.

Oh, no doubt. First they will need the money. Second, even electric cars cause pollution and are in some ways worse because they are so heavy (road damage, tyre wear). On the other hand, children with asthma should be better off. But I do not see it as some overarching conspiracy.

Rendering most of your bullet points entirely irrelevant. This is just another slice of the salami. Do you know what the end game is?
|
|
By:
A well known psychological manoeuvre to fool the gullible. The same techniques were applied throughout the covid nonsense. Although perhaps this particular slice is seeing more resistance than they anticipated.

Electric car batteries use rare minerals and metals from the earth. They are finite resources but soon everyone will need them for there car from Chelmsford to China. This will push the price up so much electric cars will not be affordable or even attainable in numbers for the poorer drivers.

London is fast approaching failed city status and I don’t see things ever getting better.
Rents have sky rocketed and will continue to do so, the cost of living will keep going up, basic public services will continue to decline, crime will get even worse and the place is completely over run with the Alphabet lot. This just isn’t going to get fixed ever. So I’m out. Signed contracts on a place up North a couple weeks backs. Pretty happy because I’ll be able to visit a lot of the tracks Ive always wanted to visit but never had the time to travel up to from London. I’m thinking of making Pontefract my first stop but we’ll see. |
