i was nearly one of them until i read the form and backed the 2nd instead

The Lion King fans could also have backed this "Demon Of War" as well.
By:
I remember the race when Vitani was 2nd - complete farce of a race where nothing was put into the race - we'll see if the winner is a world beater - it just might be I suppose
By:
Was out on his feet at the end, doubt he'll amount to much, pinched a lead on this front runners track and just held on imo.

Sorry Stewarts - I wasn't clear - I meant the horse that beat it in a canter the time before
By:
tolo thinks a horse 000000 simply cannot beat a horse 111111.

i fink i was infurring the opposite

Coevers. 1967. Six duck eggs and evens fav. Won. Taught me so much.

indeed. i saw the 2 and the 50/1 on offer and checked why and decided it was correct, so didnt back it as form of 222222222 cannot beat 111111111
you misinterpret. next time i will make it bleedin obvious, just for you |

leave mitolo alone - Rico ...
He is one of the good guys - and, at least, honest, too - who has just done himself out of a 58.0 Winner.... albeit, no doubt, to only a small 'passing interest' stake |
By:
thanks for your concern onlooker but its misplaced. who you calling a good guy? i have zero need of any support, quite the reverse
and i was going to go full-bank sh1t or bust all-in |

Plenty of punters picking their selections from the daily rags, my late father one of them, last time out second one of his methods.
Poor bloke had four winners up only once. ![]() |
By:
Clive Holt wrote a book around form figures regardless of what type of race or rise or fall in class, gave the form figures eg 4 for a win 3 for a second etc plus points for a course win or C & D win etc.
He had some big priced winners using the method but some horrendous days,he tried various courses for his experiment and ended up disappointed if memory serves. |
By:
regardless of what type of race
pmsl so 2nd in a 2 runner race at redcar beaten half a mile trumps 5th in the Arc beaten a length ... |
By:
Actually Hulk, yes, that's where Holt's "formula" would have taken you. But that might just have thrown up the 100/1 winner that accounted for his profitability. As I recall, the ads were fully of 20/1+ winners as examples of the potency of the system, but if you happened to have the ability to open a formbook and read the words and numbers on the page, you'd very soon be avoiding the big ones.
By:
get the same results just randomly backing outsiders. no Holt required.
By:
Yep! If you ignored the rubbish formula, the book was actually pretty good. The first time I ever read anything about value prices, preceding Mark Coton by several years.
By:
That formula had points for C&D ,Cse & Distance wnrs aswell.
By:
We all create great backstories about FORM working out, WHEN it works out ..... it's convenient to forget the just as frequent form reversals, turnarounds and just downright makes no sense results. This game is almost as much bingo as bingo. You might even have a better chance at bingo as, in the racing game, there are many forces outside your control and knowledge - randomness and skullduggery of the highest order of course being the main ones.

I think Clive Holt added the place figures points per win etc…
By:
That is what most doing their bollox say shooda!!
By:
No he did not Quixall as far as my memory goes,I knew Clive fo a fair few years btw, noted on here when he passed!! His trial was only win, stand corrected if wrong?
By:

Very good - and nicely documented - happysandwich
But - What is the relevance, or correlation, to the Title of this Thread ? You do not say anything. |

Funny you should say that Manoleeds - I was just actually gonna let it pass!
However the first (recent) time that he started spamming this crap again on Andrew's thread - the very next day, he "accidentally" misses out a winner at BFSP of 4.03! ![]() ![]() Zoukster (19:00 Goodwood) 9th June. Probably better just to drop it - and save him the embarrassment of anybody taking a closer look! ![]() ![]() |

Regarding this actual thread (before the praise-seeker arrived); the concept is very "gazesque" i.e. always or never do something based on some often irrelevant or meaningless numbers, regardless of any context.
Broadly speaking it's for the lazy and the ignorant. Context is everything. Anybody saying different is trying to con you or sell you something along the lines of The Holy Grail. Sadly, (apart from fast pictures obviously) there isn't any substitute for knowledge, hard work, good ideas and some originality of thinking imo. |

You have not answered ... What have your Selections/Results got to do with THIS Thread? |

You're not supposed to ask awkward questions onlooker - just give him a pat on the back and say well done!
