be great for British racing.

Yes it would be swifty and she deserves to be champion on her ability .
Report JPSER July 12, 2023 9:41 PM BST

Cry
On that basis about the same chance as United catching city
Report penzance July 12, 2023 10:13 PM BST
She probably hasn't got the backing in numbers.

Hollie is a top ten jockey but she's a she which does not help getting rides, even if we are a good deal more enlightened now. Champion jockey is a numbers game, not about the best jockey. The Cauthen vs Eddery battle is a thing of the past. When was the last time Frankie or Ryan Moore were battling for this meaningless title?

Doyle is 5th in the table for rides this championship season. Two of those ahead of her are the last two champion jockeys. One of them is her husband. Paul Mulrennan is the other, with only two more so negligible difference and can flip in a day. Where do you feel she deserves to sit, ie if her gender was not female where would you expect her to be?

You can answer that yourself before asking others.

I'm not alleging she is struggling for rides due to being female. Fourth or fifth seems about right in the pecking order. Obviously Moore is a better jockey but splits between UK and Ire and doesn't do the daily grind. One or two below her I may prefer personally but that's opinion.

Yes would agree with the 4th or 5th.

Talking of champion jockeys, what happened to Paul Hanagan, that after winning back to back champion jockey titles he just drifted off the top end of the list for good?

I see he only split with Fahey last year, so in 2010 and 2011 did Fahey just have a few great years but has been in decline with winners since? or did Hanagan just ride less?

Mulrennan is hoovering up the northern rides. It won't happen, but if Doyle wanted to be champion jockey then she could probably do it by basing herself in the north.
Report Clarky9 July 13, 2023 8:12 PM BST
Hanagan got the Hamdan Al Maktoum gig, so didn't ride anywhere near enough horses to challenge for the title, after two years of flogging himself around the north for Fahey and the rest of the northern trainers..

Nice ride on Kyle of Lochalsh just then.
