I watched this recently and was reminded what a truly incredible performance this was when he was runner up in the 2005 Arkle. Like a scolded cat from the off, sent from the top of the hill, sprawled on landing when upsides at the last and still closing down Contraband at the line. 'His determination made him special' seems like an understatement after watching this, never mind that he only went on to beat War Of Attrition in the Maghull at Aintree a few weeks later

I remember back then most of the forum were perplexed by the likes of Kicking King and War of Attrition because they seemed hopeless novice chasing at 2 miles.
I think kicking king got it worse and had some names slung at him.
But 3miles+ was their calling.
