anyone have any idea what it is ?

money that could be going back in to racing goes to folk who are not needed and bring absolutely nothing to the table anyway...

The Horse Watcher boys are on virtually every day raking the cash in for saying bland/basic things that are all in the public domain yesterday...

and i'd love to know how much they give Paul Mulrennan for being their ambassador at the same time.

Donn Mclean must be the most boring person ever created on God's earth and he picks up money for saying everyone is great / every winning ride is wonderful and at the same time has never spotted a non trier in his life (or one he would say so on air at least)...

i could go on but the head honchos at RTV really should be asking themselves why they need all these presenters / pundits and do they really earn the money they get.

Had a quick look, it's owned by a parent company, RMG. The racecourses themselves are the shareholders of RMG. So 'profits back into racing' means paid back out to the racecourse 'owners'.

Racecourse Media Group (RMG) will pay racecourses £117.6 million in payments generated from their media and data rights in 2022 – compared to £110m in 2021.

The payments are derived from a range of RMG businesses, including via betting shops (Racecourse Retail Business), online bookmaker streams (Digital Streaming), pay TV channel (Racing TV), international betting (Racing TV International) and non-betting distribution, mainstream TV (ITV agreement) and data (Racecourse Data Company).

There is no broken down financial information for RTV in the public domain that I could find. But I only did a 2 minute search.

the money going out of racing from RTV for this garbage is unbelievable...

The vast majority of things they come out with you should be able to find out yourself. The only thing they can really add are paddock inspection and again the vast majority seemingly make that up as they go along. I have never heard anyone suggest that a horse has been turned out badly, and if that were true then it would render observation pointless.

Agree with mitolo in the main , really like the RUK coverage in its entirety and as for pundits / tipsters or whatever you like to call them it's immaterial to me as it's in one ear and out the other , it's the coverage i like including the races themselves , all the chat between races and the likes of Luck on Sunday.

As for Sky racing it isn't not in the same league as RUK but far better than we've had in the past , remember the bad old days of racing once a week if you were lucky and having to get results from teletext.

As for what these guys & gals get paid i've no interest tbh but all i know is that for coverage we've never had it so good.

Stuart Machin/Jonathan Neesom  are an excellent duo for entertainment value. Lydia,Nick Luck and Ruby/Gary in Ireland are top of the tree.
Agree the Dixon twins are on far too much and their Humberside drawl grates after a while, also agree they state the obvious about horses being back to their last winning handicap mark etc etc and  lets just quote the Racing Post spotlights comments.

totally agree...

all you need is the racecourse commentator (and maybe 1 person in the studio booth)...

i've been watching the football on youtube (viaplay international)...

you get the commentator and co commentator (sometimes only a commentator)...

you get the players as they are in the tunnel...

you get the national anthems...

the commentator picks it up from there...

you get a highlights package at half time showing different angles of goals etc...

you also get shots of the crowd enjoying themselves during half time...

you then getthe players coming out for the 2nd half...

and the commentary on the 2nd half...

and it is by a country mile far better than listening to over-paid pundits at half time (and pre-match and post match) yabbering on about basic stuff any man in the street could talk about...

it's just regurgitated nonsense game after game...

these folk must be getting huge money...

it's a joke and i don't understand it one little bit...

the money going out of racing (as previously stated) must be well in to the 7 figures just for RTV...

why the actual racecourses don't tell RMG bosses they could do with their part of that money spent on presenters/pundits is something i simply do not understand...

but i don't run horse racing...

if i did it would look very differently than it does today.

scared folk poo poo it and end their subscriptions...

personally i very much doubt that would happen on a mass scale and you might even get some folk coming back (who are fed up with the endless amount of presenters/pundits who say nowt)...

i keep saying it but it's all about keeping the mug public thinking the game is 99.9999999% straight and everyone is a wonderful human being...

they very very rarely mention anything dodgy...

they never highlight dodgy rides...

they seem apologetic when theyhave to announce someone has got a ban or anything...

it's all centred around showing the mug public that horse racing is a wonderful sport full of wonderful human beings...

it's certainly ain't the way i see horse racing and i feel like the broadcasters are insulting my intelligence by painting the picture they do...
