I have two accounts that I rarely use but handy for forecasts and the odd ticket. Neither of them advertise but never had a problem. I should add it's Manny and Sean G. Anybody else able to place a bet over the phone?
sad to say I no longer have any telephone accounts, ever I only ever had 2 dog and bone accounts, the first with John Joyce in Hartlepool and bet with him for decades, only ever had 1 problem when he sent someone's account who had the same name as me, but they were a high roller, i can still feel the bruises from my mother opening the letter, the bill was for £600 and I earned a tenner a week ribero knew him well
The other was with my best mate GRRACING in Bishop Auckland, I bet with him for 15 years and its down to him i have so many betting acquaintances now, i miss him every day and still toast him with a glass of champagne every day at York, we had some great days there

I used to have a credit account with Betfred that I used to put on bets by telephone around the mid 2000s. I was working on the Isles of Scilly at the time, and obviously theres no bookies over there

I used to have about 20 telephone accounts at one time but I haven't had any bet with a off-course bookie for over 10 years. Only exchanges now (95% Betfair 5% Purple) except for rare visits to course.

@Brian - I'm going to be in your situation soon as I also have had online booky restrictions/closures over the last 8 years, so I'm looking to permanently utilise the exchanges. As I'm not at all familiar as to how to use this new (for me) betting medium, it's going to be very much a trial and error situation until I get the hang of it.
For example, is it possible to place a £10 win only bet on a 25/1 selection on the morning of the race, or will I have to wait until nearer the race time until the bet gets matched?
At the moment I place my bets the evening before, but I suspect that's all going to change when I move over to using this exchange.

Gibbon 839 post... Assuming this isn't a wind up... You can request to be matched anytime from lunchtime the day before the race, as soon as the win market is put up... Just put up your tenner at 26.0 and wait and see if you get matched The closer it gets to the race off time, you may have to lower your odds to get matched

@mokegibboni I generally lay these days so I don't think I am best placed to answer your question but will give it a go.
I suppose it depends our confident you are about the price you want and how much time you spend managing the situation. Personally I'm not keen on using Betair SP so if i was looking at backing a horse that's 25/1 on the books, I'd probably initially request larger price (maybe 40) but if it is not taken as race time nears gradually lower but with a minimum price that you would take in mind. I recall struggling to get it right when I did back but experience helped.

Moke .If your placing your bet night/early morning before & its 25/1 with the books you have a decent chance of getting matched on here @ 32/34 possibly up to 40. Split your bet and "staircase it" i.e £1 @ 32.0 £2@34.0 £3 @36.0 £4 @ 38.0 that way your increasing the average price on your selection.
