Many races have short random prices in the middle of the field.

And Lingfield is even worse, how can the market be so non-existent 7 hours before the off?

@cobra

Just this on Twitter from BetfairCS:

"Please note that today's races were set without reduction factors due to a process error in today's meetings at Leicester, Lingfield, and Southwell. We are currently working to bring these markets back on-site."

Twitter is their communication of choice rather than their own forum!
Report The Management June 6, 2023 12:09 PM BST
I don't bet with Twitter! CrazyCry
Report DIE LINKE June 6, 2023 12:40 PM BST
Novel idea, but should they not contact those whose bets have been cancelled via email/text/site notification?

Truly sorry for the inconvenience caused. We will forward the following feedback to the relevant team to see if anything shall be posted on the forum regarding today's incident. Anything else we can help you with today?

Like it or not, Twitter is where BF communicate these days.

Entirely understandable IMO - how many people are regularly on the Forum?  A few hundred, tops I would say, a tiny percentage of their customer base.

The Forum is a twenty-year-old thing from a period when signing up for single-purpose chatrooms like this was the norm.

I suspect one (of many) reasons there are very few new joiners here it that it is no longer the norm and people expect companies to communicate through a small number of common platforms, not create a unique one of their own per company.

longbridge, so you clearly think all betfair customers should be using Twitter and that betfair has then no need to inform their own forum.

To be fair - If they had to do a "service announcement" EVERY time they fecked up a market - it would require a much bigger forum!

can you show your workings please.

how many millions do you think are betting on the horses on here on a daily basis ??

Twitter has more bugs than betfair ffs
Report longbridge June 6, 2023 2:24 PM BST
sparrow - that has pretty much been the case for the last decade or so, since the last Betfair Community Manager departed.  And it isn't like you have to 'use' Twitter in any real sense - just bookmark the BetfairCS Twitter page on the web.  Call the bookmark "Betfair Announcements" if you would rather not be associated with Twitter.

hulk - workings are not easy, as BF has become less transparent in its annual reports over the years, but last time it did split things out Exchange revenues were something like 40:40:20 Racing:Football:Everything else, and they were claiming over a million active customers every year, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume between 10,000 and 100,000 Racing customers?  And there are what, a couple of hundred regular HR forum posters, maybe a thousand including the very occasional?  So, on my estimates, between 0.5% and 10% of Exchange HR bettors are even occasional Forumites.

It's like that everyone on the internet, 99% of people are lurkers for some reason.
