Yes, So is George Margesson

He has been head-hunted for a revival of the Green-Cross-Code adverts - " Look, Listen, Look, Listen, Look!"

He's been at the top of the game so long, that "the lads" all look like they could do with a Zimmer frame!

Henry Cecil asked for my advice once..... I was in a Newmarket petrol station he was in front of me in the queue to pay for fuel....

....He half turned and said that he had seen bubbles in his petrol and asked if it was alright...... I replied that it should be okay.... me realising then that it was the great Henry Cecil.

I don't go up to Newmarket much, but was there on a visit to Clive Brittain's yard..... I always wondered whether Henry was really concerned about the bubbles.... or was generously giving me a story I could tell on the Betfair forum?

Confused
Report formoftheace June 3, 2023 5:05 PM BST
Bubbles in his petrol….ffs how did he see it deep in the petrol tank ffs what a load of P….
Report The Leopard June 3, 2023 5:29 PM BST
This was back pre-2015, when Clive Brittain retired...... If you had the nozzle not fully into the tank, thinking you could get more petrol into it, then the petrol would bubble up to the top and be visible.....

....sometimes there used to be a fault in the cut-off sensor so petrol kept flowing......happened to me once and petrol splashed onto my shoes.

Genuine story !

I checked with the cashier who it was..... and he confirmed it was Henry Cecil .

Lovely gentle man is our Aidan. Especially after telling us all to keep the faith. 6.2 on here thanks AOP. See you on the Curragh plains soon for the Derby double.

Let me get this right it was all down to Aidan that horse won today, and it was all down to the horse that it was pathetic in the 2,000 Guineas?

Has won as much Epsom Derbies as Lester now.

O'Brien is a member of the Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, meaning that he does not drink alcohol.

^ That's why after 30 years of training high class horses, he hasn't aged a bit.
Report unitedbiscuits June 3, 2023 7:31 PM BST
He is superb. As a drinker, I recognise a teetotaller from the way they can namecheck significant helpers in the blush of glory.

I think I would like AOB even if he was useless at his job.
Report freddiewilliams June 3, 2023 7:35 PM BST
And he's not even doing it to get owners
Report Jumping-cuckoo-monk June 3, 2023 7:48 PM BST
Be tee-total if you want but why join a blah blah abstinence society?
What do they do at those meetings? Needlework?
Report screaming from beneaththewaves June 3, 2023 8:03 PM BST
Pray for Cecil, I suppose. And perhaps for the OAP whom he hit and broke her arm while over-the-limit.

That's if they even have meetings.
Report Jumping-cuckoo-monk June 3, 2023 8:30 PM BST
They probably stay at home and email each other about what they abstained from that day
Wonder if they look down on gambling.

J-c-m: a quick google, and they're very much not prohibitionists. They appear to be all about encouraging others to see the benefits of abstinence for their own good.

They've got their opinion, the same as anyone else, and good for them. It's what makes the world go round.
