Hi barstool, Can't remember 1959, was only 8 months old! Been watching them since 1968 though and, apart from Raddy's goal at Maine Road and beating Arsenal in the 1988 Littlewoods Cup this was our greatest day ever! Cheers, Mad.

Who was that then Ged....Bruce Rioch? Ian Buxton? Laurie Sheffield? Or someone a bit earlier in the decade.
Could of course just even be someone than scored a hat-trick in his only game?

He would have scored more at Luton but he missed half a season when Peter Gelson of Brentford jumped on his ankle. In their previous meeting, Luton had won 6-2, and John scored 4. Gelson didn't want that to happen again.

Yes, he went Luton -> Middlesbrough -> Ipswich -> Coventry -> QPR -> Bournemouth
Started with Arsenal as an amateur, then Chelsea, then got a free to Luton.

Just looked him up in one of my many LTFC books....he scored 22 goals in just 23 Division 3 (League 1) appearances in 63/64 season, including those 4 against Brentford on 8th Feb 1964!!!

Scored 10 in 21 the following season and played 4 matched with David Pleat at the end of that season but didn't play alongside Bruce Rioch (his first season)

!!kv - remember the home fans would start in Oak Road (and Luton would kick towards that end 1st half usually) and then walk through the Bobbers Stand at h/t to stand in Kenny end for 2nd half. Imagine that being allowed nowadays!!!

We used to travel to all the home games on an old double decker bus from about 20 miles away, always packed.
Skinheads in white doctors coats, real fanatics with scarfs, badges, rattles and horns.
Missed the bus home loads of times.
Most supported other teams but we all followed Luton as it was easy to get to and always eventful.
Great days, hope they win a few games in the prem cant wait to see the looks on the pre madonnas faces as the leave the bus.
