he had one ride for Sam Armstrong when he was a lad but his weight was always against him. His big claim to fame when he was younger was winning the Stable Lads boxing 10 years in succession. Always looked after the quirky one's at Henry's from the late 70's/ early 80's. One of his first real "patients" as he calls them was Critique. Henry had Monty Roberts over to work with him for a couple of weeks around the mid 80's. His son also now works with him, which is good to see.

Jimnast never been to hq for years sad to say due to bad eyes so no driving is the newsagent by the clocktower still there met the great trainer many times very early morning buying his 40 Marlboro lights on his account. Ronnie.

Sadly not Ronnie it went a few years ago the cafe is also no longer as it was ,many trainers would call in the newsagent I was always amused as to how many life’s/posts were piled up in there most shops have between none and two.
On a plus side you can get a snack and a hot drink on the gallops.
