Last summer, i did many bets with Stanjames on my online a/c, totalling a few grand, over the course of 3-4 months. However, the money was never taken for these deposits at the time from my bank a/c, something I, and stanjames, only noticed months later. In November, they issued took the money from my bank a/c, and fraudulently (so my bank says) withdrew the funds for ALL the prior deposits in one fell swoop, with no warning or notice given. My bank, AIB, said that this was illegal behaviour and applied for the chargeback on my behalf, and within a week, I got all my funds back. Howver, I am just after receiving a letter, 6 months later, warning me I have an outstanding balance on my Stanjames a/c and if I do not deposit to settle it or ring them to organise a repayment schedule, they will begin debt collection proceedings against me. As I understand it, the fault which caused the error (and many many people I know had the same thing happen to them for smaller amounts), was with Stanjames/Betpack and not the fault of the bank. Can anyone more informed than me about gaming law help me out and tell me of I am liable to repay the funds to this gibraltar-based firm or who I should contact to discuss this, because I don't trust this rancid outfit (stanjames/betpack) to act lawfully or morally given their previous behaviour. Don't know much about this sort of thing, best to ask Rico, he knows a lot about disputes and the Law.
So No money was going in ? But balance was showing deposit Amount , then bets were place ?
If you do actually owe them the money, I would settle it with whatever option suits you (you could argue that they should pay some compensation for the hassle). Otherwise you credit ratings will suffer and ultimately they will get the money.

If bookmakers owe you money you expect them to pay you. Surely this is just the reverse, and you have been lucky enough to have the best part of a year to pay it back?
Years ago bookies couldn’t pursue for debts,if I remember correctly,think the law was changed though,
Tote used to have credit shops on course,betting on the never never was a thing.
Think some firms do offer credit lines to individual customers,depositing funds wasn’t easy like today.

gentlemans agreement hill. it has changed in the uk but i'm not sure about ireland. think if you get a winner there the bookie can still just say he doesn't fancy paying you out and there's eff all you can do about it bar super-gluing the locks
You owe them. I would come to some sort of agreement. Perhaps you could pay monthly?

This was an easy resurrection to detect without even clicking on the thread simply because Stan James was revealed in the thread title.
I was only trying to catch Rico after opening a multitude of his old threads, but Manoleeds kn@ckered it up early doors. Just let it drop now.
But now I want to know what happened! As much as I'm no fan of bookmakers if you lose a bet you pay up.

1.01 that's my course of action Bubba. What i've learned about the legal basis they have to reclaim the money in the last 24 hours has made me think they don't have much sway in this situation. Won't be betting with them again regardless, 8 cent each way at 9-1 just doesn't do it for me!
