No, the third would have won - finished strongly after being baulked at the last by fpp which is far more relevant imo.

Got to be corrupt, how can anyone decide minutes before the result that the horse would keep the race.Insider pals cleaned up a few quid at 2/1.

"a jockey can use that to his advantage.  wipe the field out 2 out, into stewards"

Dreaming up xtreme scenarios to support argument against much lesser one is LUDICROUS. There was reason to believe this could get thrown but there was reason to believe it could stand.  "imo if 2nd was good enuff had plenty time to do sew...prob turn around but no bet here" that reasoning Shafty gave is ALL important(hence no loss for him) it's not whether any interference was the cost of a head(or more) it's whether it was the cost+the time to make it up.

---------------------------------------------

that is irrelevant ffs...

just because it came over the PA system that the result stood doesn't mean that is when it was called...

how naive are you Mr.Hunt ?

very ffs.

It's only three weeks since the Taunton stewards chucked out a P Nicholls winner for hampering the second BEFORE the second-last!

Picks Lad, beaten a neck: Prominent, challenging when short of room and badly hampered on turn after 3 out, rallied to challenge 2 out, kept on well final 110yds, just failed, finished 2nd, placed 1st

mebbe if it had hit the front on run in and still beaten it may not have been promoted.

Yes, I agree, rico.

I've just got back from Worcester and was glancing quickly through the thread. A lot of the discussion seemed to be about whether something can be disqualified that far out, regardless of how the horse responds in the battle to the line.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the approach to the second-last hurdle when the winner, KOMEDY KICKS (IRE), ridden by Harry Cobden, interfered with MYRISTICA (IRE), placed second, ridden by Jack Tudor. The Stewards found that the interference had not improved KOMEDY KICKS (IRE) placing as although the interference was substantial, it happened approximately 2 furlongs out and having jumped the last hurdle, MYRISTICA (IRE) improved to get at least upsides KOMEDY KICKS (IRE), before that filly again went on, to win by a head at the line. The Stewards could therefore not be satisfied that if MYRISTICA (IRE) had been afforded a clear run up the straight to the line, that it would have finished in front of KOMEDY KICKS (IRE). The interference was found to be accidental in that KOMEDY KICKS (IRE) veered sharply right-handed before being quickly corrected by Cobden, giving a severe bump to EVENWOOD SONOFAGUN (IRE), unplaced, which in turn gave a bump to MYRISTICA (IRE), moving that mare sharply off its intended line.

imo the 2nd had plenty time to still win..and it hit the front on run in.

it hit the front on run in

but couldn't maintain that position due to the extra effort it had to put in to get into that position due to losing its position when severely hampered by the first past the post two out ...

Didnt a horse get demoted for impeding another horse in the first 2 furlongs over a long flat trip ?

Just seen the race. Agree with Rico 2nd had plenty of time to still win. That is clearly what clinched the decision not where it happened. Even so I  would be tempted to appeal if I was owner.

Farcical explanation from stewards.
It's either the horse was interfered with or it wasn't - US rules best as there is no guessing game involved as to whether the hampered horse would've won or not.
