Just wondering how many of the horses are thoroughbreds and which would be a top sire of these horses competing.

Wonder what the horse injury/fatality rates are at these sort of events compared to the racing and why there are no animal rights protesters jumping on the bandwagon there today
Quite a few are thoroughbreds, William Fox Pitt, Pippa Funnell and obviously Tina Gifford (spitting image of Josh) favour them and seem to remember the Kiwis Mark Todd and Andrew Nicholson had some good ones. Don't know sires though. Interestingly many years ago David Broome's showjumper Philco had raced in the USA.
The most famous example was a horse called Stoney Crossing, who had competed in the Olympic three day event for Australia and came here to compete at Badminton in 1965. He finished 6th, but had a warm up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, finishing a distant third behind Arkle and Mill House.
