Short enough at 3.05 with 19 runners to beat on soft ground with Dermot saying could have done with another 2 weeks. If your a bookie or a layer you must fancy your chance of a double whammy and get it beat after Agust Rodin yesterday. Tricky one for me....i think she will win but the price stinks

Weld said after the moyglare that he thought the race might come too soon for her and that she’d be a much better horse next spring , so taking those comments on board I wouldn’t be too worried about her today.

too short for me but looked a very smart un last term and beat meditate who franked the form so no suprise if she wins this but has she trained on? probably, but over the winter any these fillies including the front 3 in the market can come on bundles and its a bit of guesswork regards going trip and possibly comes down to who has progressed most so i will go for a few at big prices . remarquee was green and won the fred darling she should improve but she was only half a length or so in front of stenton glider who also should improve being lightly raced and both stepping up a furlong given the distance between them STENTON GLIDER at around 50/1 could be a bit of value here and EMBRACE finished very well in 4th that day looking as though the extra furlong would be right up her street and looks too big at 50/1 and is a well bred filly . selections EMBRACE 50/1 BIGGER ON HERE & STENTON GLIDER 50/1 EW 4 PLACES BIGGER ON HERE

Anyone know where i can find my antepost bet on Tahiyra, after she won the Moyglare, can't recall exactly what price i got, either 5.2 or 5.8, can't find it on here, hope she bolts up rice, we need superstars.

Found it in my bets had to put time period ALL, actually got 6.4 which is better than i thought, only a tenner though, could have sworn i'd had a score or here!

No pocket talking, Hayes is a proven bridle merchant. I kept waiting for him to switch the whip, but he kept taking his horse into the winner who was leaning in. She wanted to go right, just let her go.

Another ding-dong at The Curragh on 28th May? I'm fairly certain Tahiyra will show up, will Mawj though? If so, 7/4 Tahiyra; 5/2 Mawj.
Prices for Coronation Stakes (23rd June); Mawj (6/4); Tahiyra (7/4); Never Ending Story (8/1); Meditate (12/1).

I think Mr weld would not have run his filly today if he was the owner. Instead would have waited for the Irish version on 28th May. Nevertheless, a very good effort. I'm glad her pilot looked after her today.

Plenty of these likely to revert to sprinting before gradually being upped in trip,Royal Ascot probably being the testing ground for the future if the ground is not too testing, pun intended!!

Will they meet in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot about 4 weeks later? I hope soon . I hope Meditate turns up too as it was a non-event for her on the tacky ground.

I was toying between Dream of Love and Mawj. Pleased I sent with Dream of Love. Oh well
As per usual the more Dermot Weld talks down a horse, the more he really thinks they're a bit special. Unreal performance from his filly which I thought was getting there comfortably for a three length victory but for Mawjs superb attitude. Great race

Nothing strange,AOB was careful and said "Most exiting we have ever had" about Rodin as opposed to the best ever seen So You Think etc?
Words are cheap and easy, always from AOB,people soon forget he thinks,"So He Thought"!!!

If they run at RA on summer ground I'd be with Tahiyra big time. I may be wrong, but I think she will be miles better on faster ground. It would not surprise me if she didn't come of the bridle in June. However, I regret that DW may go for the Irish 1000 and leave the Coronation there. She looks a horse that runs well fresh. With so little to go on I could be completely wrong!

You would be wrong. Mawj is better on better ground. Thats the best 1000 guineas you will see for a long time, it was a good field and the 1st 2 are both exceptional.

interesting Honcho ( I assume you are replying to me). I take a different view. Whilst I agree about the depth of the form, and the fact that each of the front 2 might improve for better ground, I just think The DW horse is faster and should.....should.... be better on good to firm. We shall see. I think she may improve past the winner who has run a good few more times. Wouldn't be dogmatic about it though. Good luck

M won the DoC stakes at NM on good to firm. You can't be slow doing that. T is smaller and not as good a physical specimen as M and today was her best chance.

well there we are Honcho. No use everyone thinking the same. I think T has more improvement in her as a horse running for the 3rd time. I also cling to the belief that she is faster on decent ground. Time will tell. I backed neither today so have not got a skin in the game. But I will have next time! All the best

Tahiyra will be the one for me too on better ground, same distance or 7f. I think Mawj outstayed Tahiyra on the tacky ground and 1st time out for the latter. I'd take on Mawj with Meditate with the same condition.

If you stood Mawj and Mediate next to each other you wouldn't expect mediate to beat her. Mawj's brothers are Modern Games and Modern News, both improved for age. I realise T has only had a few runs but Mawj Just improved 10lb (at least) on her previous form on ground that wouldn't suit her I'm not sure why she won't keep improving given her size and breeding particularly on better ground. Its all opinions I suppose.

Mawj is little bigger than a pony and unlikely to get much taller although still growing, more likely to get stronger in her compact frame.Based on yesterday I think she will be equally affective at 12f on decent ground, the runner up more a miler at this stage and likely devastating on better ground.
Doubt they will meet again but it would be interesting later in the year.

Mawj is bigger than T and is growing and will never be as good at 12 as a mile. I'm unclear why anybody thinks T will be better on better ground. I'm not saying you are wrong but why? All her form is on ground with plenty of give and she is by Siyouni who's stock clearly prefer give in the ground.

I think the opposite. I think she only got as close to Mawj because ground conditions were in her favour. I think Mawj is the one that will improve for fast going and 'is' proven on fast going.

Quote from Dermot Weld "We were a bit in the dark about the ground beforehand and she has a lot of pace and it has just taken the real speed off her"!!!

5/4 for the Irish version. I thought I saw 2/1 earlier. Even the triple crown wannabe Auguste Rodin has shortened into 5/1 (from 8/1) with a few as short as 7/2.

Let's be honest...if Mawj hadnt had the benefit of just returning from a"Dubai prep"Tahiyra would have won easily...once the"benefits"wear off Mawj will regress or just go off to stud...Bin Suroor!FFS.

^^ Absolutely! Mawj was put in her place by Meditate likewise Tahiyra to Meditate. I hope they meet. If so, I know where I'll put my money - certainly not on Mawj - over 7f or 8f.
Fitness and going were key factors to the victory of Mawj. But, I'm very glad bin Suroor has his 1st Gp 1 here for a long while.

She's 4/7 for the Irish version this sunday - no Mawj. Is it a penalty-kick for her? AOB could be fielding 3 eg Meditate (7/1); Never Ending Story (7/1); Jackie Oh (12/1).
