gallopin des champs understandably a very hot fav here and was impressive when landing the gold cup quite easily in the end ,proved he gets the trip and unbeaten when completing over fences and room for improvement so should be very hard to beat here but the gold cup has proved a grueller and it must be remembered that not too many are the same again the next season after a rest  remember a certain a plus tard who was also an impressive gold cup winner but couldnt reproduce it  and gallopin has had 40 days to get over his exertions , he may be an  exception and the 2nd coming but 1/3 is not for me and there could be something that could suprise the fav . bravemans game ran a cracker in 2nd in the gold cup and could get closer but he didnt have an easy race trying to outstay the mullins horse and also could be vulnerable . i like the chance of  ENVOI ALLEN  who won the ryanaire and yes i know he has had the same 40 odd days to recover but the ryanaire is more a speed test than the slog of the blue riband and this one could be better suited to this test, a supreme winner before losing his way a bit but the ryanaire win showed he has the class and speed .   12/1 seems fair imo and i have had a smallish ew bet just the 2 places , i am too greedy to lay a 1/3 shot  and it  could be a case of who has recovered best since cheltenham and bravemans has 7l to find with gallopin so not an awfull lot in it and ill have a saver  win bet on bravemansgame at around 9/2 on here .

Never saw that result.

GDC not the best jumper out there and needs a very stiff 3m or further.

no good there but as said the gold cup is a grueller take short odds at your peril.

I was very critical of Slevin on this one at Cheltenham and stand by it. He would've won if he'd kicked but sat and the winner got first run. Of course they're all saying now wasn't it a great run to finish second to the Grand National winner but the fact is he should have won that day.

Those with the fav in the placepot can thank Cobden for his brown breeches at the last.

I think the two principals were feeling the effects of Cheltenham. I hope they do not go the same way as Might Bite and Native River.

Only Ireland can produce a result like that!

That's quite a funny comment jimnast as the first four home in that race were all Irish trained Laugh

And Crawford had the winner and the fav (1st and 2nd)

The Irish monopolise freak results at the highest level usually with high profile stables. Anyone with an ounce of sense would consider staying clear of this regular "connections/bookies" beneficial gestures.

I don't rate Slevin, but he wasn't unlucky the Ultima. It's obvious that Corach Rambler isn't a horse who wants 'first run'. Far better for him that he has a target, and is delivered as late as possible. If Slevin should have won a race it was the hurdle.
