Just thought I’d mention it as you could be forgiven for not knowing it was today.

Regarding St George’s day 12 of us started having a proper afternoon celebrating it back in 1999 we agreed then nobody else could join if the day falls on a Sunday we celebrate Monday ,sadly there are now only 7 of the original 12 left and tomorrow will be the first time we raise a glass to the king.

One of my neighbours and his pals get dressed up as knights of the Crusades and go round the few pubs left in Dewsbury every Georges day. I don't know anyone else who bothers at all.

Thank you for the reminder jimnast. Would have just passed me by otherwise. Good excuse for nifty one tonight.

We did not get to Cheltenham last week, bit of a blow having paid the hotel etc. Nothing a winner or two wont sort out though.

Over the past few days - My local newspaper has carried stories withthe following H4eadines ...

'Museum celebrates Eid-al-Fitr with family fun day'

'Have fun celebrating Eid at Museum this weekend'

'Eid-al-Fitr announcements made to mark end of Ramadan'

'What do Eid al-Fitr celebrations look like for Muslims around the world'

- and this beauty ...

'7 Things you SHOULD know about EID'

(WHY do I NEED to know anything ?)

NOT One mention of - ST GEORGE'S DAY, though.

Mind you ... Looking at the list of Candidates for the forthcoming Council Elections ...

They have already taken over. Cry

Good point onlooker, Tesco are doing Eid ads but nowt for George. TV presenters revel in local festivals and celebrations on holiday programmes and travel documentaries, but our own saints day is seen as bad taste.

Well barstool you'll just have to undone what they have done and make your point , it really is a shame what has happened to a wonderful Country. I was in the Cotswolds last week and its beauty simply blew me away , don't let them ruin it ...
