Human error ! Cider , thank god he is not a brain surgeon , i hope they are not affected by emotion too often .
Actually with the state of the NHS they might well be doing the same if not worse . |

It was not an error, he deliberately stopped the horse going the pace that it went when asked to quicken, he stopped the horse from striding out. His objective was to win by a smaller margin than the horses true ability merited and in doing so keep the horses handicap down as we all know. He was over confident and cost 1000s of punters, his owners and trainers and rightfully will be punished. What a total ****, hope he is booed on his return and reminded of his responsibilities.

Did he apologise to punters?

28 days.
Caribbean nice this time of year. |

Blimey just watched, with his experience he really shouldn't be doing that. Grandstanding to easing a horse like that don't fool the handicapper. Looking over both shoulders he must have disregarded My Roxanne as it was so far behind and from then on just glanced at the horses on his outside. Luck sort of conspired against him as losing by a nose, he was in front again a stride past the line (still blissfully unaware of what had transpired). Compare that to how lucky Mickael Barzalona in the Derby of all races was on Pour Moi.
Apart from apologising specifically to connections, Cosgrave did say he was sorry for all concerned. That's more than the usually reliable Willie Carson did all those years ago when he dropped his hands at Lingfield (I think). |

For the record and especially that jinxy person I thought that Cosgrave ought to be banned for much longer irrespective of the present guidelines or whatever. |

Swings and roundabouts
A lot of people lost money they shouldn't and a lot of people won money they shouldn't. Luck evens itself out in the long term. I think the penalty is lenient. 3 months would be good. |

6 Months ban minimum ffs...And that is being lenient.

Yes, Kamari at Lingfield Always going well, led, hard held final 3f, shaken up last strides, headed line Carson had also been caught out easing prematurely in the Cheshire Oaks three years earlier on Bashayer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=294P26Wp70k |

Short memories on here, certainly not the worst compared with Seb Sanders (Battleship Bruce btw fined £375),Fellon,Ballinger Ridge (Hallmark of pre-arranged result),Tony Culhane patting his mounts neck easing down and getting caught (Arab Owned, forget name)?

He made a mistake.
There was no gain in what he did, apart from giving the horse as easy a race as possible. Nevertheless there has to be some indication to others that unavoidable mistakes like that will not be tolerated. Twenty press-ups in public should do it. |

''unavoidable mistakes''
Should be ''avoidable mistakes'' |
|
By:
I don't believe it should be more than 28 days because at this time of year when the Saturdays are going to be busy and the turf evening meetings are kicking off, there will be plenty of rides up for grabs and it is going to be in effect a significant financial penalty for him in terms of lost income, plus the rides he might have got he may not get back on once his ban ends.

should be 3 months 1st offence

camnt take someones liuvelyhood away for a mistake..

These "mistakes" would cease immediately with that kind of deterrent.
He didn't just stop riding out to the line, he pulled the horse up. |

Just think if a footballer or any other sports person got 28 days or more on the sidelines for every mistake.
England footballers missing penalties for instance. Or as a punter, you got 28 days off for picking the horse. If it was deliberate that's another matter. But a genuine mistake? |
|
By:
the wrong horse.

Not comparable.
There's a massive difference between a mistake & being unprofessional boarding on fraudulent. |

Thanks Wesdag. Christ, that was bad. Is Cosgrove left headed only?

Actually with the state of the NHS they might well be doing the same if not worse . Erm, it's not a life and death scenario. And fwiw, medics and their helpers regularly make huge blunders. An elderly man had the wrong leg amputated during surgery, a hospital in Austria has admitted. The 82-year-old was due to have his left leg removed on Tuesday, but due to “human error” the right leg was amputated above the knee instead, the Freistadt Clinic said Friday. The error occurred after a hospital worker mistakenly put a preoperative mark on the wrong leg, the hospital said. |

What kind of talk is that? It's either fraudulent or it isn't. You can't be tried for almost robbing someone, or almost assaulting them. You either have or you haven’t. |

Racing Post (sort of) picking up on my title thread.
A ban should be considered whether you win cockily or lose stupidly. |
|
By:
how many times would it happen if jockeys were held personally liable for any losses incurred by punters ? not talking 5ers or 10ers but if that was the last leg of a massive acca someones been ridden horribly.

thank god he is not a brain surgeon
If he was, he wouldn't get suspended for a mistake. |
